Everyone likes it when things are affordable, but you may quickly relearn the lesson that you frequently get what you pay for. When evaluating a fuel supplier, consider all the steps that have been taken to prevent, dirt, water, and microbial contamination that could cause extensive damage. Perhaps if you plan to replace your equipment anyway, it's worth the gamble using a business without approved storage facilities for leftover fuel retrieved from decommissioned tanks, which then sold out of the back of unmarked vehicles. As the say, you got to know when to haul them, know when to tow them. Know when the coast is clear and know when to run. You never count your barrels when you're hiding behind the dirt pile. There will be time enough for counting when the draining is done. more

Very please with Brian and his crew. They were able to remove our old tank from a very small area quickly and cleanly. They removed all the old pipe and patched all the holes with concrete. We were very pleased with how it all turned out and would recommend them to anyone in the future. more

More tips: Use branches to cover equipment and tanks for salvaging when brought in and out of the neighborhood. Props are agood in any theatrical act, even when attempting to explain why there is no business activity at an unlicensed residential locaton. Reservations are not required for the daily performance, and the parade float of tanks is a sight to see. more

Here's a great tip if you're not good a paperwork and need to calculate what you owe for running untaxed fuel. Assuming a fleet average of 10mpg, with a $10 a gallon fine means you just add up the odometers of your trucks to get the total dollar amount. Another tip is to find someone that uses three times as much, since you are entitlled to a third of the recovered amount. more

Loyal customers should checkout the article on fines for dyed fuel over at worldsweeper website. Bottom line, if you are asked for a tank dip, just tell them you don't have a tank. This approach has worked for me for years. more

Checkout the three axle centerpiece around 6-9PM. Be careful driving in the residential neighborhood as the roads are in really bad shape, which isn't suprising when some people think its OK to use the roads daily without paying their fair share of County taxes or Home Owner Association fees. more

Now the next time you see a white van hanging low in back, it might just be Affordable Oil simply out doing the only thing they've done for 20 years. If you want to find out for sure, just ask basic questions like where is the business licensed to store large quantities of fuel and see if you get an address for a Metro Station, a Park, or some other non-nonsensical response you can be certain it's Affordable. more

Here are the specifics you referenced when Mr. Kelly physically attacked his neighbors. First on 07/03/07 (report 2007184002295) where at age 46 he beat up a 71 year old man and sent him away in an ambulance, and later on 08/26/08 (report 2008239002762) pushed a 44 year old woman to the ground. Not surprising he didn't win any fans from his tactics such as testifying that he doesn't own any businesses, and his domestic partner interfering with unscheduled inspections of his trucks and dumpsters by sticking their feet under the tires of County vehicles. more

Business desperately needs an App 4/14/2012

There should be an app to help run this business more effectively that would: First: select first part of name (Affordable, Advanced, K&R, Kelly's....). Second:select a second part of name: (Oil Tank Removal, Excavation, Dumpster Rental ,Sewer Line Repair, Snow Removal, Scrap, Welding....) Third: make up a location (Alexandria, Chantilly, Fairfax, Centreville, Fairfax Station, Manassas.......) Fourth: advertise with the resulting combination, Fifth, when asked specifics about location, history, licenses, permits or taxes, or past-due notices, simply say this company no longer exists and have the app generate a new combination. As long as the trucks remain unmarked, the app should do the hard part of keeping track of what name combos and corresponding stories people were told. The best icon for the app is the grey feathered ostrich, an animal best known for sticking its tiny head underground, while thinking that nobody can see its big backside. more

Good Quality Work 3/20/2012

MR. KELLY Makes every effort in his contract for his customer to break down the details of the job,step by step. He followed through on every detail. There was minimal yard damage. He went down to fire marshal to get the proper permit . He had the proper inspection . He took soil samples and soil analysis . Mr Kelly gave me a copy of all paper work inspection ect... I was impressed. I am sorry for him to have to have deal with a neighbor who has nothing better to do than to assault him on his property,then loose in court for assault / peace bond on him.Mr Kelly said he could give me the court case no. IF any body needs it .,Please request it ? .I will ask Mr. Kelly for it . I will be happy to post it and any other info on this miserable neighbor. From what i under stand he is retired . and has plenty of time to slander Mr Kelly Sincerely yours Sandy ! more
