Adventure Club San Antonio

I didn't actually join and have never been a member, so keep that in mind. I went to a meet and greet event where everybody knew everybody and that was very awkward for me. I wanted to join that night, but I thought if this is the meet and greet then what would an activity be like? I didn't want to chance it at that price. It seems like a great bunch but the meet and greet was very overwhelming to me - I thought there would be more orientation and discussion of the variety of events, but instead I felt like a crasher at a family reunion. Not their fault, and they certainly have a bunch of activities. Maybe I'll try the public hike or something, where it isn't just standing around talking (which is DEATH for someone like me, I hate it). If you're on the shy side then I would avoid those meet and greets (unless they're very small -- mine was big) and try the hike. I might do that. Seems like a good organization, just keep in mind that you are going to have to really jump in and for some of us, that's not our nature. Just my two cents. more

I joined ACSA around 2004, and as a longtime resident of San Antonio, I was surprised to find that there are actually places in SA and surrounding areas that I had never experienced! What's better, you don't have to wait around for others to agree to join you to go do anything...it's all right there at your fingertips. I have made the best, long-lasting relationships, personal and professional, and the club is really an extended family. As with anything, it is what you put into it, so jump in! more

The Adventure Club has undoubtedly been a huge addition to not only my life, but to my children's as well. Coming from a different state and having to start all over again would have been insurmountable had it not been for the friendships and networking that I found through this wonderful club. the owners are great and are very involved with ensuring that every event is safe, fun, and provides exactly what you are there for..friendship and excitement. there is something for everyone; outdoors, indoors, social, small groups, large groups, the list goes on and on. Do yourself a favor...JOIN! You won't regret it! more

I was blessed to find the ACSA while going through a rough patch in my life. I have made a lot of great friends and learned about activities around the area that I didn’t know about before. I also like the variety of activities to choose from like outdoor and social activities. There is always something to choose from in the calendar for whatever strikes the mood and you always meet new and interesting people. more

Is your life passing you by? Do you find yourself working all the time? (Like I was). If you answered yes or are looking for something fun, then the Adventure Club is something you should try! I was that person working all the time and watching my life go by. I was invited to an event 7 years ago and haven't looked back. There are so many activities and the people are friendly. There are all types of events scheduled daily to fit everyones interests. The best part is that I have met many great people who have common interests and have become great friends. Definitively something you should look into! more

I have been a member from the very beginning and have seen the club grow. Now there are many, many things to do every week. A lot of great people are members. If you are looking to get out to meet new people this is a great way to do it. ACSA has something for everyone. more

Let The Adventures Begin! I have been a member of the Adventure Club San Antonio since March 2005. When I moved to San Antonio from Abilene, I knew absolutely no one. I eventually started my own medical/legal transcription business, Eagle Transcription Services, and was working 80-100 hours a week. After a few years of those kinds of hours, I knew I needed to slow down a bit and find another outlet other than my weekly tennis league match and a few tennis tournaments (when I could squeeze them in). I had so many other interests other than tennis and transcribing but had not found the time or other kindred spirits that liked all of the other outdoor activities I have always loved. I have always considered myself somewhat of an adventurist; I had worked in Grand Teton National Park at one time, and even taken a mountain climbing course with Exum Mountain Guides in Jackson Hole; that is how much I love the outdoors. I knew I wanted to get back to my roots of enjoying the outdoors. So one day in March 2005, I Googled the word "hike" and the Adventure Club popped up. I was so excited to find a club such as this. I joined, signed up for a hike and have never looked back. Through the Adventure Club, I have been on many hikes, moonlight tubing, kayaking, rock climbing, socials, etc. Although my main interest is the great outdoors, the Adventure Club offers so much more. There are many varieties of activities. And I love the fact you just sign in on their webpage, look at the choices of activities on the calendar, decide what you want to do, RSVP and show up. It's that simple. David and Bev Davidek, the owners of the Adventure Club, are so fun at heart and make the club feel like an extended family. I have met so many friends and experienced so many activities I probably never would have otherwise. I highly recommend the Adventure Club San Antonio. You just might find yourself, as I have, yelling from the top of the mountain, "Let The Adventures Begin!!!" more

My husband and I have been member s and event hosts for Adventure Club SA for more than 5 years. It has given us so many fantastic friends and opportunities to try out new activities. We plan on going being a part of the club until we are too old to move. Dirk and Bev Davidek the owners of the club are the most sincere people you've met. They are truly friends you don't want to go without knowing. My husb and I host camping, dancing, kayaking and game parties in our home. We always find something great to do on the website calendar monthly. Don't miss this great club! more

We've been members of the Adventure Club since 2003 and 2005--in fact we met at an ACSA event and were happily married two years later. Thanks to this group we've made several good friends, enjoyed a trip to Greece, skydiving, kayaking, biking, hiking, dancing, concerts, plays, restaurants, the Rodeo, caving, batwatching, ziplining, tubing, wine tastings, a party for every holiday. There's an activity for every budget! Dirk and Patrick founded a wonderful organization. more

I have been a member of the Adventure Club SA since 2005. I have met many great people and a couple of people, well, not so much. But I did not let a couple of bad apples ruin it for me. Since becoming a member I have learned how to ride a motorcycle & scuba dive and love it. I definately get out of the house a lot more since joining the club. I always look forward to socializing with a bunch of great folks of all ages and backgrounds. I am an event leader now and have organized dive trips & cruises along with other social activities to many to list. This club has definately helped me come out of my shell! I recommend it all the time. more

I have been a member for 9 years and lead events throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. We dont get paid to lead monetarily, but the joy of exposing folks new to the area or the less experienced always puts smiles on faces! ACSA is unique in that it provides the opp to do fun and and adventerous outings without 2 tons of planning and details done by yourself.....club members share the load and take turns providing synergestic adrenaline rushes. You get out of any organization what you put into it, and those wishing to be introvertive and spoonfed can still have fun in spite of themselves since most event leaders are outgoing, well organized, and friendly. Yes, there are always cliques in any organization, and we all gravitate towards those we sense commonality. But my advice is if you have a warm smile and a sincere attitude to meet and enjoy people and activities, you will find a wonderful home here! more

I have been a member for a little over a year and it has been one of the best years of my life. I have met some amazing people who have become very dear friends. And have done some amazing adventures, including zip lining, kayaking, hiking to the top of Guadalupe Mt and mountain biking just to name a few. This has been a god send to me so that I could find people who have the same interests as me. This club has many things to offer from outdoor activities, social events and happy hours, something for everyone. i would highly recommend this to anyone and do all the time. Jim more

I have been a member of the Adventure Club (ACSA) for nine years. The club offers the opportunity to meet new friends and explore new places. I grew up in the area and have learned about so many places I never knew existed. When I first joined, I knew no one in the club. As in any social setting, one does have to step up to the plate and make an effort to meet people. I found it an easy place to meet people. To find people who had similar interests. This organization is great for offering one many opportunities to do things outdoors and in a variety of social setting. If you are looking for things to do, this is the place to be! more

I have been a member of this club for over five years now. I joined after a divorce and wanted to try new adventures like kayaking, hiking, and shooting. These are things I would have never done on my own. Joining the club helped me find out more about myself and make some life long friends as well! There are a variety of events for all types of personalities. I strongly recommend it! more

I have been a member for a few years now. I joined because I love to hike, but for safety reasons, feel safer hiking with a group. Adventure Club is great for this. They have lots of different types of activities on different days of the week. I have done hiking, zip-lining, kayaking, a few happy hours, Missions games, and played on a softball team. Seems like there is always something to do. The people are friendly and welcoming. Many of them have become my friends outside of the club. Most members are mid 30's and up, but still very young at heart. Like the fact that I get to participate with Austin's club too. Well worth the membership!!! more

This is a great club, especially for those looking for new, fun friendships. I joined last year, being brand new to San Antonio and not knowing a sole. Since being a member, I've been on fun activities and have made lasting friendships. If you like to have fun, meet great people, and make great friends, this club is for you! more

I have been a member of this group for years. While I do not get to attend as many events as I'd like to, I've never been to a bad one. Great group of folks, lots of different types of activities. Fun for any and everyone, not just singles or families and not just with or without kids. I tell all everyone about this group even my friends in Austin are hooked. more

I just joined the club last week and I already love it. I have attended three events already and everyone has been very geniune and polite, they really know how to make the new guy feel welcome. I am already signed up for 3 more events this month, mountain bike ride, camping trip, and hiking. This is a great club and it is certainly worth checking out. I have already made a few new friends and I hope to meet someone special soon. The best thing is most events are free. I am so glad I found this club. more

I have been a member for several years, but don't attend on a regular basis, due to a lack of time. If I do have time on my hands, it's nice to go to the calendar at Adventure Club to see what is happening in our city! I've had dinners out with small groups, joined a community choir at Trinity University, attended happy hour, have gone to hear live music at outdoor venues and have attended the San Antonio Symphony, to name a few. I met someone with whom I ended up traveling to New York City last year on vacation. These are all things I would not have known about had I not been a member of Adventure Club. more
