On September 28th, 2013 I received an invoice for concrete work to be done by Advanced Surfacing (Decorative Concrete). I was having a concrete laid for a 10 ft. by 10 ft. patio, textured, stained and sealed for $1,700. Decorative Concrete asked to receive $700.00 on Sept. 28th, 2013 the day they came by to form and prepare. They came back on October 2nd to complete pouring concrete and asked for the final installment of $1,000. I contacted Anthony at Decorative Concrete on Oct 10th to tell him there was a severe grade (slope) in the concrete that ran towards my deck where the water collected and pooled. I explained that it aesthetically looked poor and I was very concerned it would rot my deck. I also requested he came by to look at it since he wasn’t present in any of the work. He refused and told me I’d be happy once it was stained. We had another conversation about a week later where I attempted to get Anthony to exhibit a little more care for my concerns by sending him pictures of the concrete and simply have him look at it. He refused to come over and told me there was nothing he was going to do to change the work that had been done. He went on to push me by asking what I would do about it. He said if I sued him he wouldn’t show up in court and he wouldn’t pay. He went on to explain that his guys sat around a whole day when the concrete trunk never showed and he could have charged me for what he had to pay. Clearly I would have nothing to do with the concrete company he contracted but it’s a good example how irrational and incompliant he was. He kept telling me to wait till it was stained and reassuring me I’d be happy. In the meantime I had three different concrete companies come by to look at it and they were astonished at the fact that the guy I hired wouldn’t look at his work and realize the grade was way off. I decided I just wanted him to finish the job by staining it and wash my hands of the whole experience. I called him January 16th, 2013 to share my sentiment and he barely remembered who I was after our many texts and phone calls. He told me they would contact me to schedule the staining. My only request was he came over when they did it so he could look at the job he was defending. Today is February 13, 2013 and I still haven’t received any correspondence from Anthony or anyone representing Decorative Concrete. \r \r Anthony not only did a poor job, refused to extend me the courtesy of coming over and looking at his work, but stood behind and defended his shoddy workmanship. In my opinion he has no integrity in his work and lacks any professionalism. My aim here forth is to share this store with any many people and mediums as possible to hopefully save someone from the horrid experience I’ve had with Anthony and Decorative Concrete. I plan to exhaust every tool and platform I can find that represent good customers who have been victim to this kind of company. \r Please note that Decorative Concrete isn’t and accredited Better Business Bureau but here is BBB’s complaint log for the company:\r \r Complaint resolved with BBB assistance (1 complaint)\r \r 3/31/2010 Problems with Product/Service\r 1\r \r BBB did not receive a response from business (5 complaints)\r \r 1/21/2013 Problems with Product/Service\r 10/8/2012 Problems with Product/Service\r 7/31/2012 Problems with Product/Service\r 4/18/2012 Problems with Product/Service\r 4/3/2012 Problems with Product/Service\r more

Run- Run- Run. Don?t believe a thing that they say. You?ll regret ever doing business with these fly by nighters. You?ll agree on one price and when the job gets to a ?no return? status they will claim they have to have more $$ to finish it. Then after the embarrassingly crappy job, they will want more to fix what they destroyed. On top of that, they will need money down, money for the 2nd portion, money for the 3rd portion ect. with checks all made out to different employees not the company at the START of each job. Your check will be cashed before the end of the work day. They go under different company names. Don?t believe the references they will send you, I had a suspicion they were all different family members. A real piece of work. more

Be Careful! 8/26/2010

Be Careful in dealing with Advanced Surfacing for concrete work. Based on our recent experience (Aug 2010) their written proposals are not worth the paper they are written on. They tried to inflate the stamped concrete patio project price by 25% at last minute by claiming they had overlooked something that was actually listed in their proposal. If this is the way they try to do business at front end we can only guess how they would try to jerk the custmer around once the project has started. We walked away - You should Be Careful! more

Stamped Concrete Pool Deck 6/23/2009

We worked with Pete at Advanced Surfacing in the spring (2009) to add a stamped concrete overlay to our concrete pool deck. Pete also had a great idea to add a matching sitting surface to an existing retaining wall. The result is stunning. What a difference! Thanks Pete! Pros: Looks Great! more
