I wouldn't 8/30/2011

My mom had corrective eye surgery here for a cataract in her left eye. It's been about 6 months since the surgery and not much improvement and her eyes feel dryer than normal. The staff here is not the friendliest and when we come to our appt. the wait is usually more than 30 min. The hispanic girl at the front desk is nice though, but I feel like the Asian boss lady kind of takes advantage of her and the young Asian guy there is just plain rude. I hear him speaking to the older patients in such aggressive salesmen type tone with no clue on what excellent client service is. He's sounds pushy and arrogant and I'm glad I don't go here for my glasses and eye checkup. The only reason we went here was because it was recommended/assigned by our primary physician. I should have done a more thorough search on other ppl.'s experiences. Not only that, on the day of the surgery we were expected to pay upfront when earlier they told us that insurance was going to cover it. The office really needs to be more efficient. My mom had been doing pre-op procedures and inserting drops into her eyes for the past month to prepare for the surgery, so we had basically no choice but to fork up the bill. The way they handled it was unprofessional and totally made us feel like we were their cash cow. The doctor was just standing outside waiting for us to get our credit card charged. so unprofessional, and I wished they would have called us the day prior instead of waiting until the day of the surgery to tell us the news. The doctor is alright. He seems nonchalant, but not in a good way even though he supposedly he got his credentials from yale? And he keeps saying to give it time to heal, which we understand, but it's been awhile now, and still not much progress. what a disappointment :( do ur research! more

He is an ophthalmologist from Yale 3/14/2009

I read the other comment and I just have to comment on them. I,too, have strabismus(crossed eyes) and I have gone to numerous doctors for my problem. It depends on how crossed eyes one is, the doctor suggest different treatments. In my case, since my eyes are not too crossed, most of them had suggested that the initial step was to fix it with a pair of glasses. Through time, the eyes can correct itself. The very last step will be surgery. Although, a couple of doctors had offered to do surgery on me. After careful evaluation, I trusted the more conservative doctor. Dr. Nguyen gave me a pair of glasses and sure it took sometime to correct my problem, but the fact is it did. I'm so glad that I didn't have to go thru surgery. I continued to be his patient and will be for life because he is very reputable, and good at what he do. I was introduced to him by a friend, and he is by far the busiest doctor in Orange County. He also is known for his surgery skills. He is indeed an ophthalmologist graduated from Yale. Didn't you see all the diplomas and certificates he has on the wall in the waiting room? He graduate at the top of his class also, so I don't think that he doesn't know what he is doing. I'm very happy with how he and his staff treats me. But ordinarily I would not write any reviews on anything, but I can't help but to write this when I felt that he was wronged by people who do not understand the whole picture and are too quick to judge. Pros: Best eye doctor I've found more

Dr. Nguyen is a phony opthamologist 2/1/2009

I wasted my time and money for what I thought would be an exam by an opthamologist. I told the guy I was suffering from a slight case of strabismus and the so called ""opthamologist"" by the name of Nguyen basically just tried to fit me for a pair of glasses. I told the guy that my problem goes beyond glasses but he then told me he has other patients and I need to hurry up, make a decision, and stop holding him up. Wasted 80 bucks for the 15 minute exam, nothing was accompolished, and he's NOT an opthamologist...... Pros: Open on Saturday's, Appointments easy to schedule Cons: Phony Opthamologist, Basically a Glasses Shop, Fake Opthamologist more
