Adue Interiors was a great find for us 6/27/2010

When we moved to Boulder from Seattle, we looked for a designer who would understand our desire for something different—not just the same safe thing others were trying to offer us. Luckily, we were referred to Drew.\r \r We did our homework and showed Drew a stack of pictures from magazines and first meeting, Drew clearly understood what we were looking for--and brought her insightful ideas to the table. She worked with what we already had and brought in unique and interesting furniture, fabric, styles, colors and finishes. She listened well and respected our input—we never got the feeling that she “knew what was best for us”.\r \r Drew let us know that we’d be in as much control as we wanted—we could let her do everything, could weigh in on her suggestions, or bring our ideas to her for her consideration—all depending on what our budget and desire for involvement dictated. She also offered ideas for how we could keep our expenses down.\r \r Drew is engaging, creative, personable and gifted as a designer. She’s well-connected and resourceful and finds creative ways to get things done. She’s clearly a professional, so you should expect to compensate her for her time and expertise, just as you would for any other professional service. The more preparation you do in advance, the more quickly you’ll get results that make sense for you and you’ll keep your costs down. With Drew, you’ll also get something great.\r \r more

Wonderful experience 5/29/2010

Adue Interiors is the best value for the money that I have found. I interviewed less expensive artists, and more expensive artists. I found that Drew was the only one who connected with who I am and what I wanted. The less expensive designers just didn't get what I was about or what I was after. The more expensive designers had the attitude of my not being good enough (probably not enough budget) for them. Drew turned my house into my dream home. Her charging practices are consistent with any other professional I've worked, including architects, builders, contractors, and the like. She listened to my concerns about design and costs, and we always came to agreement. I was so pleased, I sent Drew to my daughter, at my expense, and had Drew work with her to give her the home environment she wanted. My ex was so impressed, he hired Adue Interiors. Adue Interiors is professional and artistic. I would have no one other than Drew. more

Hands-down the best designer 5/27/2010

I've worked with several interior designers and hands-down Drew at Adue is the BEST. She is highly skilled and experienced, and helped transform my house into a home. Not only did she quickly understand my needs and objectives, Drew consistently came up with creative solutions that exceeded my expectations. She has helped me with multiple areas of design within my home from wall color to furniture to window treatments to accessories, and she excelled in every category. I also appreciate her flexibility and willingness to work within my budget, which was quite tight at times. I never felt the haughty attitude you can get from some in the design profession when you don't have unlimited funds - Drew was sensitive and respectful of my financial limitations. Drew has an incredibly ability to look at things and just make them ""right"". She has integrated existing pieces in our home in new ways that I never would have thought of, and the results were outstanding. I give Drew my highest recommendation, and will continue to utilize her amazing design insights. Pros: Amazing style; integrates existing pieces; highly creative more

Designer Beware 9/16/2009

Adue Interiors is overpriced and unethical. When Drew came out to our place she was warm and generous with her time. After working with her, we found her to be generous with billing as well. She does a good a good job, but we dearly paid for it. Pros: knowledgeable and nice Cons: questionable business ethics more

Adue Response 7/16/2008

I would normally expect to hear directly from a client who was dissatisfied with my service. I?m sorry we weren?t able to take the time to discuss your disappointments during our meeting. Maybe you felt that you didn?t have a chance. It seems important that we at least clarify a couple of items you addressed in your review. \r \r We do not give fixed bids for our time or services. When we initially spoke on the phone you asked me to perform the color work within a certain time frame. I stated I was not able to help you. You called back asking me to consider doing the work with slightly more time allowance, but still very tight. I stated I would try to work within the time frame you requested, but that it would likely take more time. I explicitly stated it is impossible to know how much time any job will take because there are always conditions unknown to us. \r \r We actually ended up choosing more paint colors than you had originally asked for, and naturally needing more time. In the process, perhaps I should have asked for your permission to continue with color selections, given the additional colors you had requested, but I assumed you to be aware that selecting more colors would mean more time, so I chose not to bring it to your attention. \r \r I feel the value you received is very great & will have a lasting affect on your life for a long period of time. The painter has expressed how pleased you are with the results. A lot of effort & insight went into choosing what would be most appropriate to you. We did end up in absorbing a total of $352.50 in job costs in order to help offset the extra time needed to finish the job- in discounted hours; mileage; time for assistant; preparation of paint schedule; and walk thru with painter.\r \r I find it unfortunate that you did not choose to speak with us first, as we believe some of the concerns you wrote about could have easily been clarified. \r more

Questionable business ethics 10/17/2007

Drew with Adue Interiors told me she could do my color consulting job in three hours; therefore, I hired Drew for three hours but ended up paying her for 5.75 hours. At $125/hour, that is a substantial amount. There was no discussion when Drew ran over the three hours she was supposed to take to complete the job; she simply expected the extra payment. Then she informed me she needed to do a paint schedule and a walk through with the painter on top of the time she spent at my house picking out colors. There was no previous mention of additional time needed outside of the time she spent in my home choosing colors. At one point when I was questioning the mounting cost, she simply showed me the color samples and told me I could make my own paint schedule. In the end she did pick out interesting paint colors that I like but I found her arrogant and overpriced. My advice would be to get a price for her services in writing before she starts since she obviously is not skilled enough to know how long a job is going to take her or she knows but is out to take you for more. more
