ABT 30 + years 8/11/2011

Few retailers come close to ABT I've used them for stereo's to stoves to A/C to dishwashers over the years I've been so happy with this store that I no longer go to others! Best service ever I know they have been to my home many many times! 5 stars from prewash501 ! more

Wouldn't Go Anywhere Else.... 4/8/2007

Best prices (even match internet), knowledgeable sales people (who aren't teenagers) unlike the other chain competition. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Chicagoland or even online. I've bought thousands of dollars of appliances and electronics there including an Apple Imac, Canon HDTV Camcorder, Frigidaire Front Load Washer and Dryer. 100% Satisfaction on every purchase. I work in retail and know good service when I see it and Abt continues to deliver. 3 Generations of my family have shopped Abt when they were in Chicago, Niles, Glenview (Waukegan Rd), and today (Milwaukee Ave). more

excellent vendor for electronics and appliances 11/27/2006

We have bought several items from them over the years, most recently being a replacement General Electric in-sink disposall. They have an excellent online store and I was able to locte the unit I wanted and check stock. I finished the order by calling in and scheduling a delivery date. Their showroom is also extensive. I bought a TV a few years ago after looking at the ones on display. They are an excellent vendor - well worth using if you liv in the Chicago area. more

"Plug In" to some great deals! 5/28/2006

Folks that have lived in the city their whole life are familiar with their full page ads that appear on the back of the Weekend Plus (Chicago Sun Times). They have some of the most amazing deals in town on everything from tvs, air conditioners, stereo systems and more. They are conveniently located and definitely worth the trip. Their staff is always helpful and knowledgable. more

Abt Appliances and Electronics 8/19/2005

Abt has been in the Chicago area since the 1930's (from what I remember family saying, it was, originally on Milwaukee Avenue near the Logan Square area). This is the only store we have EVER bought any appliances (refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, washers, dryers, microwaves). And most people we know (including those that don't live in the area) have either bought there as well or have heard about it. I think it's because the salespeople have been there a great number of years, and they really do know about the products they sell, and can answer your questions intelligently. And they're not pushy, either. Abt also stands behind their products (and yes, they do sell the ever-popular warranty.) It's a family business, and they only have one store, which is fairly new on Milwaukee Avenue (again, but this time in Glenview, right about where the 294 crosses Milwaukee Ave) but it is HUGE!! They have a really large showroom for appliances, as well as separate/special rooms for home theaters, wine room, etc. The previous store on Waukegan Road had a beautiful fish tank, which fascinated the kids as well as adults, and I'm happy to say that the fish tank is still there, but it's even bigger (and the yellow eel was still there the last time we were there). more

Abt Electronics 8/5/2005

If you need anything from an air conditioner to a stove to a flat screen television, abt has it. Even more than the fact they have an enormous selection of anything you could ever want for your home, Abt stands out of their terrific customer service and for the overall shopping experience. The sales people aren't at all pushy, they always have free fresh chocolate chip cookies, the staff will load your purchases in your car carefully, and you can watch the fountain show, the fish in the enormous aquarium, and play Ms. Pac Man. Definitely worth the drive from Chicago! more

Huge selection of appliances 8/5/2005

I have replaced all of the appliances in my kitchen with new ones from ABT. They will match any price and usually are less than what you will find elsewhere. Their selection is phenomenal, they carry brands from GE, Kitchen Aid, Viking, Wolf, Sub Zero and much more. We had a problem with our oven and ABT replaced it with a new one after they weren't able to repair it. I like that they stand by the products they sell. more

This is a really nice electronics store. I've gotten a lot of stuff on sale here that I couldn't get elsewhere. The customer service is top notch here too. When I had to return a dishwasher, they didn't ask any questions or try to get me to exchange. You rock, Abt. more

Fixed installation problem with dishwasher for free, next day 8/2/2005

They came out and installed a dishwasher to replace our old unit, and did a competent and professional, if undistinguished, job. What really set them apart was the speed with which they repaired something that wasn't really their fault--I closed the door too hard and slightly twisted the unit, causing it to not close properly. Even though I had caused the problem, they were back early the next morning to fix it for free. more

i just ordered from them a new dishwasher,i placed the order on a thursday and they came out on time on friday with the new one. i thought there service was great and felt there store offered reasonable prices for there dishwashers. the guys that came out even took my dishwasher out of my house and put it out by the garbage for me free of charge...great service. more

Large selection 7/27/2005

Big store. There is alot of electronic stuff here. There is always the urge to pick up bigger and better electronic gizmos and gadgets, and I recommend that you check Abt electronics out if you are in the market for something new and cool. The deals are great because this is not a large chain like Best Buy, ect. more

Great Electronics Store 7/12/2005

This is an EXCELLENT electronics store. I have gotten some great deals from here. They have a little clearance center in the back of their huge store, which has hard-to-find and unbeatable clearnance items. The store often gets crowded, but it is a big, organized store and getting around is not too hard or too big of a hassle. more

Abt Television & Appliance 7/8/2005

This is the largest non-chain electronics store I have ever seen. They have everything from digital cameras to washers and grills. The products range in prices and brands and there is something there for every budget. The sales staff are also very knowledgeable and answer every question thoroughly. There is never any pressure to purchase either. more

Fantastic Products with even better prices 6/30/2005

We were looking for a high end surround sound system and decided to look online with ABT's website. Each product on their website had a detailed description and specifications. Their website is very easy to understand and use. We decided to call them to see if we could somehow pick our products up at their office in Glenview as we were in a rush to get this for a present. Their customer service staff were more than happy to accommodate my urgent request. They are happy and friendly staff and their service was second to none. more

  • The Scene
    The unremarkable department store architecture belies the bleeding-edge gadgetry stocked on the 100,000-square-foot showroom. Abt always has plenty of customers, who are almost outnumbered by the veritable army of employees dashing about. A back wall displays autographed celebrity photos, including Tony Kukoc and Bill Clinton.

    The Goods
    The main showroom is full to bursting with home electronics, kitchen appliances and even furniture. There's a wall of camcorders pointed at a giant aquarium, several home theater display areas with giant flat-screen TVs and vibrating chairs, ranks of cool steel stoves and dishwashers (somehow, even the kitchen appliances look sexy), and tons of cell phones. Pretty much all the major brands are featured here for prices from $100 boomboxes to $15,000 gas grills. A bonus is that Abt delivers (usually for free) to anywhere in Chicago and have more than 50 home installation teams.
