This place is AWFUL! My husband boarded his previous pets with this facility before & was treated very rudely & did not return for 4-5 years, this weekend we decided to give them another try...WORST MISTAKE WE'VE EVER MADE! Our dog died in their care (I do NOT think they did anything to cause his death) & they still OVERcharged us for boarding even though our dog didn't live through the entire boarding reservation! Their website also has no policy re: death during boarding AND states they contact EVS during a medical emergency which they did NOT. I was still out of town when my husband went to pick up the body or I would've NOT let him pay them a cent but he was obviously very upset & was trying to expedite his departure from their facility. They also told my husband they would have the body ready for him to take to a regular veterinary hospital for final care...they did not & my husband had to assist in putting his deceased dog in a trash bag for transportation. This was obviously very traumatic for him & beyond appalling! I pray they take better care of the remaining pets in their facility than they do of their human counterparts! ATROCIOUS!!! more

I have used the services at The About Pets Center for years.They consistantly do an outstanding job.Whether I have my dog groomed or boarded I know I can count on them. My schnauzer always comes home tired after daycare and I bought the photo package and got great shots of my dog playing with his friends in the dog park. Keep up the good work !! About Pets Center has a nice look when you walk in and the staff are very nice. When I asked to take a tour, though I was very disappointed. My dog was shaking in a tiny little ""chateau"" that looked like a kennel smaller than the one she has at home with no access to the outside and the smallest bed. The exercise area consisted of tiny chain-linked fences with gravel and cement. AND you have to pay and extra $7 for the grass area, which you never know if they actually let them out there or not! If you have a dog you have got to go to this place. Really Impressive Facility. My two little dogs boarded there last week while I traveled on busniess.Great boutique with neat stuff you don't see anywhere elese for pets. Thanks for taking such great care of Muffy and Baxter. My carin terrier Pebles loves THE ABOUT PETS CENTER.She stayed for boarding for 3 weeks and came home smelling great and beautifilly groomed.I saw a viedo of her running and playing in their doggie park. She was having sooo much fun playing ball and running over the bridges with the other dogs.Thak you so much taking care of my beloved angel. I feel so fortunate to have a facility of this caliber to take care of my baby.Outstanding place for dogs. My Doberman boarded for the first time this weekend. He came home fresh and clean with an outstanding report card. These people really care about our animals. I'm so glad I saw the commercial. I would pay anything to board my pet at About Pets Center. I'm actually going to use them again next week when I have my dinner party!! THANK YOU GUYS! Pros: Its like leaving my pet at home! more

I boarded my 8 mos Goldendoodle to About Pets Center while on vacation to the bahamas and was not impressed at all. It is very expensive for very low quality. After my trip I went to pick my dog Baxter up and was told there were no problems, however when I took him home I noticed that he was limping and licking his back and front paw. I then called and the workers there said they never noticed him limping (it was very obvious). So I took him to the vet, and my vet said all four of his paws were infected, most likely from having damp living conditions. About Pet Center refused all responsibility, so if you want to spend 250 dollars to board your dog for a week and get home and spend 100 dollars on a Vet bill, board your dog here but I would recommend your current vet. I would highly recommend these groomers to anyone. I have a long haired Shiz Tsu and a busy lifestyle. They always do an excellent job. She loves to go to doggy day care. The staff is always warm and friendly. I would recommend this facility to anyone. Pros: I never need an appointment. Cons: It's in Salem and I live in Roanoke. The drive is time consuming for me. more
