Response to rescue reviews 3/6/2012

There is some misinformation that I do not like rescue animals. My last two dogs were rescues. Almost everyone on my staff has a rescue pet. My advanced training was at Henry Bergh Memorial Hospital of the ASPCA. The clients that I supposedly discouraged from adopting a rescue dog have adopted a lovely dog which is much more suitable for their family situation. I treat all the pets I see with love and compassion gained through years of experience. more

Excellent!!! 3/5/2012

I have been going to Abington animal hospital for the past four years and I wouldn't go any place else! About a two years ago I rescued a pitbull mix and directly went to Dr. Burleigh to get her examined and up to date on shots. He took excellent care of her! He is a great doctor that knows what he is talking about. He has been in the practice for 10+ years and even when I moved out of town I still come 10 miles away to have all my pets seen by Dr. Burleigh. What a great and friendly veterinary hospital! more

New client 3/5/2012

I just moved into town and I have two cats and needed to find a good veterinarian close by. Dr. Burleigh was very personable and his staff were friendly and professional. He took time examining both of my cats. He answered all of my questions, gave me his professional opinion and options. Other veterinarians are usually in and out of the exam rooms very quickly. The hospital was very clean and neat. Other hospitals you go into have a strong dog or cat odor. Overall I was very pleased with the professionalism and compassion that he showed immediately. Thank you very much! I will be recommending! more

Lifesaver! 3/5/2012

Dr. Burleigh is a great doctor and listener. He saved my dog's life when he figured out what was going on after 3 other docs had failed. Thank you Dr. Burleigh!! more

THE BEST 3/4/2012

Excellent care !! I have been a client of Dr. Burleigh for the past 11 years. I am the past & present owner of rescue dogs , dogs from breeders, stray cats and adopted cats along with misc. other pets. Dr. Burleigh & his staff have ALWAYS given professional, thoughtful, Honest, current, well informed advise for the care of all my animals from puppy hood through old age. When all options for care were exhausted we had to say good-bye to our 14yr old dog and Dr. Burleigh and his staff were the most compassionate I have ever encountered. Simply THE BEST!!! (I have been a dog &cat owner for over 35 years) more

Vet has no compassion 3/2/2012

Dr Burleigh is not a compassionate man. I would never take any of my rescued or purchased animals for care at Abington Animal Hospital. There are several great affordable vets nearby why patronize Dr Burleigh. more

Wrong Choice 3/1/2012

Recently, a very nice family (approved to adopt) changed their minds and won't be adopting BECAUSE DR. BURLEIGH ADVISED AGAINST IT. When called about this, Dr. Burleigh said shelter dogs are damaged, have medical problems, and are aggressive. And numerous breeds should never be adopted out including the Swiss Mountain Dog puppy his clients want to adopt. Dr. Burleigh made defamatory remarks against all rescues and shelters. So shelter dogs who have lost their homes because of the economy are ""damaged"" and don't deserve to find new homes? Puppies? Dogs orphaned when their owners die? Damaged and undeserving of homes? Do his clients know how he feels about their adopted dogs? His generalizations have robbed a shelter dog of a home. more

Love this office 8/5/2011

This office is a throw back.Small, personable and caring. Reminds you of the doctor's office you went to as a kid.If you love your pet, you can't go wrong taking it to this hospital. more

I Love Abington Animal Hospital! 7/13/2011

I LOVE LOVE LOVE AAH! I have been going there for years and the staff always remembers my name! The staff is sweet and will help you out anyway they can. Dr Burleigh always makes the time to listen. Sometimes he isnt there, but with one doctor for the amount of time he IS there is awesome. Though the building was a little dated, I thought it felt homey. My dogs are always well kept and happy after visiting AAH. I once had a dog that like had a stroke and I had to see a specialist at CARES, they badmouthed what AAH had done to my dog, so I got a second opinon Dr Northington said that what Dr B did for him was great, glad I got that second opinion! I LUV AAH! more

Small But Personal 7/12/2011

Haha I read the prev review, it was hilarious! I have been going to AAH for over 9 years, and have reccomended that all of my friends and family go. The staff remembers who I am, and always has treats ready for my dog. I did once have an Emergency, the reffered me to an VSEC for state of the art care. I understood that AAH was like a doctors office, you can get a lot of stuff done that you need to, but sometimes you have to go to a specialist. Please dont let one ignorant person make you bias to the personal care you recieve at AAH. Its a little dated looking, but the methods used are not. Being a nurse myself I understand the importance of personal care, not just bursting into a room and demanding care! I have been put in situations were people have demanded that I help them, even when the Dr. is out of the office, so I know its frustrating when you want help right then, but calling and checking about policies and times makes everything run smoother. I love AAH and will never leave! more

Excellent care 9/13/2007

Dr. Burleigh has a world class facility and staff at Abington Animal Hospital. He has flexible hours and has always been easy to make an appointment with. I would not go to another vet. They also have boarding facilities at a reasonable cost. more
