Best Catholic Store in Atlanta 4/5/2007

The Abbey Store is a lovely store in a beautiful setting. It's only about 20 miles from downtown Atlanta but you'd think you'd gone to another world. Located on the grounds of a large Trappist monastery, the ambience is peaceful and prayerful. The store itself features just about every kind of Catholic product you could imagine: Bibles, books, holy cards, statues, medals, icons, votive candles, crosses and crucifixes, rosaries, and more. A nice food section features many products made at monasteries including fudge and fruitcake made by the Trappists of Georgia. The staff consists of both monks and laypersons, and are very knowledgeable and service-oriented. Pros: Good Catholic product selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff Cons: Remote location (but it's a beautiful setting and worth the drive!) more

peaceful retreat 8/10/2006

"The Monastery" as I grew up calling it, is a peaceful place. You can attend church service and stroll the grounds. If you think ahead and bring a picnic lunch, you can enjoy lunch by the lake or on the lawn.\r \r They have special Mass times during Holy Days, which I've always found very special to attend.\r \r The are small shops on the property, but they are closed on Sundays. Monastery of the Holy Ghost Stained Glass Studio 5/26/2005

The work that the monks do in stained glass is spectacular. The colors are beautifully blended and each selection is a masterpiece. They are in dmand all over the world. more
