Movies suck 7/28/2005

The Amc theater located in the topanga mall is one of the busiest places all 7 days of the week. Especially during lunch time, a lot of office goers come in for a quick lunch. Its also crowede with other shoppers at the macys stores, so dont ever think of watching a quiet movie. In summer its worse with bawling kids, rude teenagers and rushed and tired moms. Their popcorn sucks and the soda is too watered. Dont go there unless you want to torture yourself more

AMC Burbank 16-risk the chaos 6/22/2005

I have a pain point with this theater-I'd say you have about 50/50 chance of getting extremely irritated and regretting you came. I think every time i sit down how I wish I'd bought a large drink-to throw over my shoulder at the inevitable disturbance. There are way too many small kids and teen agers running around with no control over their behavior! Parents must think there is an invisible "babysitting" sign over the door. 20 minutes before the end of Chronicles of Riddick this guy walks in with a 4 yr old girl hanging off him, comes right up and sits next to me to to watch the movie. His wife meanwhile stood visibly in the alcove, patting their whimpering baby. Nice. I sat thru "The Grudge" next to a man with three very small children. The father ignored the kids' terror. I saw Michael Moore's movie with people whose baby and kids would not stop crying and they wouldn't move. The woman actually asked the man complaining to go home and watch their kids for them. The last time I was in this theater was for National Treasure. the air conditioning was on high, and the little girl behind me had on a tiny dress and kept kicking the seat, (I presume to warm up). The babbling mom ignored this and then during the movie took out plastic bags of food which they all consumed at maximum noise. if i didn't want to see the movie i would have thrown my drink in her lap. I have seen toddlers brought into movies that start at 10:45 (Hellboy) at night and don't watch the movie and run around, annoying everyone else. I have seen women trailing kids come into national premiere movies (Troy) with LED screen toys and music for their kids to be amused by and start playing them AS THE MOVIE STARTS. ALL of these things occurred at this theatre. I can't believe it goes on. I assume these are relatives of the AMC staff who use the facility as a childcare resource. Nobody from the amc does a thing, and you have to leave your seat and miss part of the movie to go find them. and then..nothing. Worse, i can pay $10 for a movie and then 8 teenagers will sneak in behind me, all sitting and talking and jeering at the screen and using their cellphones. managers don't care. they don't do anything. They certainly won't risk the displeasure of 8 teenage girls. Avoid this theater and go to the independent ones. People there care about movies and shut up. more

OK 5/5/2005

This movie theater is okay. It is really expensive $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for students. Dont attepmt going there on friday nights because sometimes that is the local kids hang out. It does play all the big movies and new releases, but theyt dont play the movies for all that long. they come and go. The big new releases tend to sell out really fast because it is pretty much the only major theater around. more
