Consumer Reports recommends finding a highly skilled & honest independent mechanic to maintain your car. The problem for all of us is is, how do you find one? My advice ? believe the feedback from City Service - I have no motive except wanting others to give me similar honest feedback! I tell you that A-Len Automotive IS that competent, honest (and well priced) independent mechanic that will free you from the tyranny of the Dealership! When my 10 year old Volvo began having the air conditioner work only sporadically, 3 visits to the Dealership produced a diagnosis of ??.the computer diagnostics show there is no problem .? Desperate, I took the recommendation of a fried and went to A-Len. With a level of personal concern and an unrelenting commitment to customer satisfaction, they worked on the problem unceasingly for several days until the problem fully occurred in their shop. They then bought me a used part on the Internet, installed it and made sure it worked perfectly. I?m finally free! After ten years of Dealership overcharging, performing unnecessary work & check-ups (I used to maintain my own cars 30 years ago when you could work on them), I have found that superb ?independent mechanic.? Dishonest and rude! Shining reviews about this place are clearly from family, employees or friends. I brought my car in with radiator trouble. They decided to change it out (not something I disagreed with). The woman on the phone told me that I would have my car back that day. When I didn't receive a call back by 4, I called and asked about when the work would be completed. She sounded disgusted that I wanted my car back. She said they'd hurry up and get the car done. When I came in, the done-up, older woman behind the counter told me to hang-on while she finished her lengthy, completely un-work-related conversation with her friends who'd stopped in. She then told me (as if she was doing me a favor) that they added oil to my car because it was low. They never asked what type of oil I had in it. She lied and told me that they put sythetic in it after I looked upset that they mixed regular oil in with the sythetic in my car. The prices weren't bad but they were ANYTHING but friendly and honest. My car sputters now. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone I liked. more

For more than 10 years I've had A Len do all types of maintenance and repair work on my vehicles - from big projects like air conditioning, brakes, suspension and tune ups to minor fixes and repairs. They consistently do high quality, dependable work at very reasonable prices. They are honest and reputable and a pleasure to do business with. They've kept my 11, 15 and 17 year old vehicles running great. I'm very happy with them and wish everyone did as good a job as A Len. I recommend them highly. more
