Being a first time home owner, I was particularly concerned with my safety and the protection of my property. I signed an agreement for the plan, and the next day a technician arrived and installed the alarm. He then made sure I understood how to arm and disarm the system. I was also given easy to follow step-by-step instructions and a video. They do want to make sure you understand the system. They want to avoid 'false' alarms, and you are only allowed three a year, before they won't monitor you anymore. Seems false alarms cost money and police time. more

It’s a simple security system but a little expensive compared to the other home alarm providers. It’s a very standard alarm system that covers the basics: i.e. a keypad, window and door sensors and motion detectors. The motion detector doesn’t work too well with Pets, so the false alarms are a bit high. more

Last year I received a letter offering a new low rate and accepted. I have now sold my home and called ADT to cancel service. ADT is refusing to terminate my service unless I pay them 490.00 dollars for a termination fee. Greed doesn't even begin to say what these people are all about. The moment the rep answers the phone you know your in for a battle just by the tone of their voice. more

I was told unless a break in happened they don't know there isn't a signal...Really for five hundred a year. I had well satisfied my contract and only asked to be credited for the last year that I caught the auto withdrawals. Of course they put the blame on me for not catching it sooner.
