I have to say that this pediatric practice has their act together! I love all their doctors. They are always able to get my kiddos in to be seen. Then I have a sheer panic moment when I realize that my teenage son needs vaccines for school. I called their nurse triage line and asked them to check his shot record. She informs me that they now have a parent portal that I can access his shot record anytime I want. I can also ask for refills on medicines and request forms for school. She also told me that my son had already had the vaccine the school was looking for and all I needed to do was give her my email address and she would sign me up for the portal and I could print out his shot record that was up to date and give it to the school. This is what a busy parent needs. ABCD is AWESOME!!!! more

If you go to ABCD pediatrics DO NOT SEE Dr. JOHNSON! Couldn't believe how she treated my two year old (who she wasn't even seeing. She was seeing my infant). My toddler was playing with the blinds that she was standing by so when he touched them they poked her. I told my son to please stop and she rudly replies ""yes, please stop that"". THEN before I left I was nursing my little one and my toddler was opening and slamming the door and I was telling him to stop but you know toddlers they keep doing it and I was nursing a frantic baby so couldn't do much. Well my toddler stopped after the 5th or 6th time and had not even touched the door for a couple minutes when I told him ""Okay buddy open the door for mommy so we can go"" and Dr. Johnson came walking up to go into the room right next to me and looked at my son and said again in a rude voice ""please don't slam that door again"". I wish you could hear the tone! Its nice to say please but how she said it was so RUDE and I just couldn't believe it. Your a doctor not my sons parent. I understand telling him nicely but the way she talked to him was as if she was annoyed each time. YOU'RE A PEDIATRICIAN you work with KIDS you should be PATIENT with them. I will never take any of my kids to go see this doctor again! more

Excellent Practice! 5/9/2012

I just read some of the reviews and felt compelled to add my own opinion as some people listed ABCD Pediatrics as a 1 star! I am clearly qualified to review their practice as I have used them for years. My six year old daughter's (born 6 wks pre-mature) immune system has been very weak since birth and I have spent ""almost countless"" visits to doctors' offices--both to E. R's and to Specialists. I can honestly write that ABCD Pediatrics provides the best care available! So great that we have always felt comfortable double-checking with them when a Specialist's recommendation didn't sound on target. We began using ABCD Pediatrics in 2007 when my oldest daughter was about ten months old. We had been referred to them (and Dr. Richard Schlossburg) by a friend who had being using ABCD for years. We had been using another pediatrician in the Stone Oak area but had decided to seek a second opinion when my her ""chronic"" coughing and wheezing continued to worsen. The other practice's doctor repeatedly told us that she was fine...""just suffering from allergies and that she was probably going to become asthmatic."" Shortly after meeting with Dr. Schlossburg, he recognized that her symptoms were not consistent with allergies and asmtha but that of RSV. A brief test confirmed his diagnosis and her new series of breathing treatments began. Her infection was so bad, it had almost progressed into pneumonia. Our second ""confirmation"" that we had chosen the best practice came a couple of years later...in June 2009. Our second child was born at North Central Baptist Hospital (great place, too) in Stone Oak. Her delivery was a bit more complicated than our first child's, but the delivering docs (also from Stone Oak) didn't see any complications afterwards. The hospital notified ABCD (Dr. Steven Fischer this time) that our daughter had been born and scheduled his visit to examine her. Within minutes of seeing her, he asked us if anyone had checked her collar bone as it appeared to be broken. He was right; the x-ray revealed the bone was clearly broken. We were shocked as she had not cried or showed any other signs of discomfort in her shoulder. Those that provided a 1 star review, come on! If you truly believe their practice is worthy of a 1 star, I truly believe you must be part of the small population that CAN NEVER BE PLEASED. They are not God; they are just caring doctors providing the best care for our children. In my years of using their office, I have not once had a single visit deserving of a 1 star!!!! We have used ABCD for years and have always received the best care...from the office staff to the docs. If you are looking for a great pediatrician in San Antonio, please meet with the folks at ABCD Pediatrics. You will be glad you did! more

Busy Practice with a Lot of Poor Practice Issues 11/2/2011

My wife and I used ABCD pediatrics for most of our daughers first year. One positive aspect of the practice is that they are able to get you in on the same day for an appointment. However, ABCD is a busy practice with many providers. You never know who you will see. One major issue is that some providers don't thoroughly review past patient notes from other providers, even though they have a modernized electronic health records system. So, my wife spent much of each session educating the provider on what has been tried in the past (e.g. past failed antibiotics). We have even had one provider document our daughters information into the health record of another child with the same name. Ultimately, we decided to change practices. The proverbial salt in the wound is when we were charged $25.00 to tranfer our daughter's records. Recommend you find another practice in the Stone Oak area. Dr. B. A. Mooore more

ABCD PEDIATRICS, AWESOME 5/7/2010

A WONDERFUL PLACE TO TAKE YOUR CHILDREN. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CHILDREN THERE FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS. THE STAFF HAS EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, ALWAYS GREATS YOU WITH A SMILE. ALL OF THE DOCTORS ARE WONDERFUL. THEY ALSO TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES VERY WELL. THEY TOOK THEM ON A NICE RETREAT A FEW WEEKS AGO. WHEN THE DOCTORS SHOW APPRECIATION TO THEIR STAFF, THE STAFF ARE HAPPIER AND MORE PRODUCTIVE. I AM GLAD TO BE WITH ABCDPEDIATRICS. THE BEST!! Pros: WONDERFUL DOCTORS, CARING STAFF, GREAT FRONT OFFICE more

Terrible 4/25/2010

As usual, daughter gets sick on Friday, symptoms progress so Monday you decide to call and make an appointment for what might be strep throat. They are on a retreat! WHAT?! What kind of doctor's office, especially one that treats kids, shuts down for a retreat? We just moved to S.A. This practice was highly recommended by a family friend. I cannot recommend a place that does not make accommodations to be open for the good of the patients and not the convenience of their staff. Cons: On a retreat! more

Incredible Place to Take your Children 2/7/2010

ABCD Pediatrics has it together. Not only is their waiting room clean and practical for a pediatric practice, their front desk staff is not sitting there, complaining about their jobs and giving attitude to the patients for coming in. Pros: Great Staff, Amazing Doctors Cons: Large Practice, may not always see the same MD more

Might not be a good decision! 9/21/2009

My children have been patients of ABCD Pediatrics for over 3 years, but rarely get sick. We mostly go for sports physicals and well checkups. We have gone a few times for sicknesses and ailments. I called today to make an appointment for my child who has a SEVERE earache, and was told that there were no appointments available since early this morning. That I needed to take my child to an Urgent Care Facility. Cons: No Appointments for sick children. more

Most uncaring and unprofessional physician and staff 4/23/2008

The physicians in this office are very impersonal, unprofessional, uncommunicative, aloof, and more. The staff are rude. The MA's rolled their eyes and acted very annoyed that my 26 month old daughter was not potty trained. They literally sighed when I told them that it would be difficult to catch a urine specimen in a cup. They never greeted us with a smile, they acted as if we were wasting their time. I never felt comfortable taking my children to this office. Please take your children somewhere else. There are kind, gentle, caring doctors out there and that is what your children deserve. more

GREAT PEDIATRICIAN / ABCD PEDIATRICS 10/4/2007

DR SCHLOSBERG IS GREAT! MY CHILDREN LOVE GOING TO SEE HIM. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE THAT APPRECIATES A KIND, UNINTIMIDATING APPROACH. HE IS PERSONABLE AND ALWAYS PLEASANT. HE NEVER MAKES US FEEL RUSHED. SINCE MY HUSBAND AND I ARE BOTH RN'S WE WERE OVERLY VIGILENT OF EVERY SIGH, EVERY BREATH, EVERY SNEEZE WITH OUR FIRST BORN. I THINK IN THE FIRST 2 MONTHS I TOOK HIM IN 4 OR 5 TIMES BECAUSE I WAS WORRIED THAT HIS HEAD WAS TOO SMALL!!! LET'S SEE...I ASKED IF MY BABY WAS MICROCEPHALIC. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF VISITS BEFORE I MOVED ON TO...PREMATURELY FUSED SUTURES. I WAS SURE THAT HIS CRANIAL SUTURES HAD BEGUN FUSING AND THAT IS WHY HIS HEAD WAS ON THE SMALL SIDE OF THE GROWTH CURVE. BUT ALL OF MY BABY'S STATS WERE IN THE LOWER PERCENTILES OF THE GROWTH CURVE. HE WAS JUST A SMALL BOY AT THE TIME. I CAN LAUGH ABOUT THAT NOW. AFTER THE 4TH OR 5TH VISIT ABOUT THE WHOLE HEAD SIZE, DR SCHLOSBERG SMILED AT ME AND VERY UNDERSTANDINGLY SAID, ""HIS HEAD IS FINE. QUIT LOOKING AT HIS HEAD. HE IS DEVELOPMENTALLY NORMAL."" THAT FINALLY REASSURED ME AND I'M SURE I MOVED ON TO SOME OTHER OVER BLOWN CONCERN FOR THE NEXT 4 OR 5 VISITS. HAVING A PEDIATRICIAN THAT TREATS YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN LIKE HE'S KNOWN YOU FOREVER IS A WELCOMING EXPERIENCE. MY LITTLE BOY IS NOW 3 AND HE IS PERPETUAL MOTION, AND VERY SMART IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF. GO SEE DR SCHLOSBERG YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. I WORKED IN A LOCAL EMERGENCY ROOM WITH HIS WIFE, WHO IS A GREAT EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN. SHE IS AS KIND AND WELCOMING AS HE IS. SUCH A NICE PAIR OF HUMAN BEINGS. Pros: INVITING TO CHILDREN, WARM PLAYFUL ENVIRONMENT, ACCOMODATING Cons: ?????THEY DON'T MAKE HOUSECALLS IS ALL I CAN THINK OF! more
