** Beware of Deceptive practices **\r \r Groupon had a $49 front or rear brakes deal with \r AAMCO of Lakewood - 12006 Pacific Highway Sw Tacoma, WA 98499\r \r We took my wife's VW Beatle in for front breaks on Sept, 15 2014. After inspection, they found that it needed new Rotors and a Caliper rebuild as well - adding $218.57 to the bill -- $267.57 Total - Not the best deal in town. My thoughts -- They have the car, so just do it. \r \r Recently, my wife and daughter started complaining about a soft petal and ""noisy - Grabby Brakes.” And so I Took it back to AAMCO on Feb. 9th for inspection - They came back with it needing a New Master Cylinder (mine was leaky) and that the Rear Pads/Rotors are completely worn out -- Wanting close to a grand to fix it - I don't trust them so I went to pick up the car. He dropped the price a few hundred to try and save the deal. Nope! \r \r I took the car to Too Quick's German Auto Service the next day - They found the brakes and master cylinder in perfect working order and the rear brakes at 40-50% - I called AAMCO and told them of Too Quick's assessment and the manager apologized, Blamed it on the mechanic, Promised to have a chat with him and offered me a free oil change --- Hell No! more

MY CAR'S ONLY GOING TO AAMCO!!! The staff is personable, polite and knowledgeable. The manager Damien goes above and beyond to accommodate his customers. I know when I take my car here that I will be getting a quality job, that's done right the first time- but more importantly- I know its a necessary repair and not some ridiculous false claim in an attempt to get more money out of me- which I've experienced in the past from other well known repair shops. They have always been truthful and honest when it comes to repairing my car. I took a recent inspection report from another auto repair company and compared it to the one I got at Aamco, the difference was night and day. Where Aamco reported only minor maintenance work was needed (oil change, fluids flushed) the other place said I needed over $1500.00 worth of work- and that was to start with. I knew something was up because my car only had 60,000 miles on it! After it was inspected at Aamco I was told my car was in excellent condition, they took care of the maintenance work I needed and I was out the door! ***Bottom line as a woman it can be hard to find a trustworthy mechanic but I have found mine and Ill be a customer for life!!\r more

This place is amazing. I saw the negative reviews and I would highly contest those with my experience. I have a 2001 Ford F150 and I went to the Ford dealership in Lakewood for them to evaluate my truck. They informed me that I needed ball joints upper and lower at a cost of $500.00 I went to Aamco in Lakewood and the service manager, Zach, was awesome. They checked the truck out at no charge and informed me that it was not the ball joints at all!\r more

I brought my Ford F150 to AAMCO Lakewood and I have to say that this was an amazing experience. I had my truck evaluate by the Ford Dealership and they concluded that I need upper and lower ball joints. The total charges $500.00 for the ball joints. My wife and I were skeptical so we took it to Aamco. The service manager, Zach, was extremely professional and explained everything to us. It turned out that the ball joints were fine and the vibration was coming from the front bearings and needed a tune up. I was shocked that the Ford dealership would mis-diagnose such a simple problem. Anyhow, I know that these guys at Aamco are fantastic and they gave me all my old parts too....WOW! I also reviewed on yelp because I was so happy with this experience. Thanks to the guys at Aamco and I would highly recommend them to ANYONE.\r more

I was told by the Dodge Dealer that I needed to replace my transmission. I talked to my 1st sgt about a loan to pay for it. He suggested I take it to Aamco for a 2nd opinion. They replaced a sensor and solenoid for $550 and my truck runs perfectly. Thanks to my 1st sgt and the guys at Lakewood Aamco. I'm thrilled\r more

There are not enough words for the Aamco in Lakewood. We came in stressed out. Brandy from the first moment took complete care, from car rental, to helping with finace, to keeping us informed about the repairs to the transmission, to pickup of our vehicle. She was right there taking all the worry and stress we felt and making us feel like we were the most important people she had. Her customer skills are the best I've ever seen in 30 years! The staff at Lakewood is beyond compare. Brandy in my opinion is the best example of what one should expect when these situations arise. As I said before, Brandy and the techs are the best! Thanks is not enough. Paul now feels secure going to work each day. We came in feeling down and left feeling like we were treated with respect and dignity. To all those at Lakewood Aamco, We love you! And to Brandy, You're the best ever!\r more

Very pleased with the total service received at Lakewood Aamco. The young lady who assisted me was quite patient and understanding of my inability to explain what exactly was wrong with my car as well as my dire need to be back on the road in the vehicle in which I conduct my every day business as soon as humanly possible. The tech was able to locate the problem, conduct the repair necessary, including parts replacement, and had me back on the road literally within 24 hours. Amco Transmissions in Lakewood is without doubt the best car care company I have experienced in my lifetime. I can tell you they genuinely care about their customers. It sounds unreal that this could be, but I am a walking example of a happy customer who has been treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. I love this place and will go nowhere else for my car. I have recommended it to many people and will continue to do so. They work diligently to find the problems and fix them with quality service, and never once have I been slighted financially. We first came to AAmco because our family usually had great exp with them. So i took my Husbands Jeep in to get the tranny re-sealed. I ended up having to pay for a ENTIRE transimisson rebuild even though they said the transmission was great! beware of the $50 shop parts they charge you for misc parts!!!!! in the end the main seal we paid for was never even done!!! took them two weeks and nothing but lies when dealing with brandy not sure if she knows her ass from her face doubt it. I just paid and got out car out before they fucked us even more. then once we picked it up they tryed to play well you dont get a warranty becuase you didnt do this and this when they NEVER told us about those things. ENable for us to get the warrenty we would have to RE pay again!! in the end i will never take any cars to this place. you get ripped off. and for military they give a 5% discount which we were denided. in omplyia they give a 20% just so u know. more

These people ripped me off so bad that i decided to pay the difference to have it taken down and reassemble without any repairs just so i could push it across the street to lakewood transmission. Best Advice 11/7/2011

I use to go to another franchise auto shop, but it was pretty much done when they suggested repairs I had already had done somewhere else, forgot to put my oil cap back on, and constantly left me with brake problems. I stayed away from chain locations for a while, but had to come here as an emergency. They changed my mind about a lot of things and told me the quickest, cheapest way to fix my car. So far they have given me the best advice, which is why I continue to go back. more
