AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

After calling around and getting help from family and friends I decided to have my wifes 2009 Grand Caravan towed to Aamco in Puyallup. Actually, they towed it for free. I knew it needed transmission work, because it wasn't shifting up out of 2nd gear. They did some diagnostic stuff, which was also free, and found that the solenoid pack for the transmission was not operating properly. The reason I decided to write this review is because I don't know anything about transmissions, and they could have told me anything they wanted to, and I would have believed it. They didn't though. They could have told me I needed a whole transmission rebuild and I would have just said okay. What they did do was be honest and only recommended that the solenoids be replaced along with a transmission service. WOW!!!!! An actual honest shop. We are sooooo inpressed. Insread of $3500.00, we only paid $593.72, and the van drives as good as new. We will definatly be doing all of our repairs at this shop in the future and they get our thanks and highest recommendation. more

I have nothing but praise for these good people. This was the best shop I have ever been to. I was treated very well and was given way more information than any other shop ever gave me. Everybody went way out of their way to make me be completely informed and comfortable with the repairs that were needed. I liked that a lot.I give this shop my highest recommendation in all ways. My crew and I broke down just outside of Puyallup, WA in our 1997 Ford E250 van. We travel around the country servicing Malls with their lighting needs and it takes it's toll on our van. The owner, Kurt, went out of his way to make sure we were all taken care of while our van was being worked on, and got us fixed up without any delays to our tight schedule. The repairs needed to our transmission were made quickly and at a very good price compared to other shops I talked to in Puyallup. I thank both Kurt and Cheryl for all the help that went way beyond what I would have ever expected from a repair shop. These are really good people and that is why I am taking the time to write this. My 2004 Chevy 4x4 truck wasn't shifting right and I took it to 2 other shops on the South Hill before I took it to Aamco. The first 2 shops tried to tell me that the whole transmission needed to be rebuilt, and wanted to charge me over $2400.00 for the work. When I called Aamco, they explained that the shifts are controlled electronically in my truck and that they would check everything out for free. The other 2 shops charged me for their opinion. When my truck was diagnosed by Aamco, I was told that they found a broken wire where the electrical cable plugs into my transmission. I was charged less than $200.00 to make repairs to the wiring harness and my truck shifts like new again. I probably did the damage when I went hunting and got stuck up by Kapowsin. The people at Aamco are great and I appreciate their honesty. Sure saved me a lot of my money and that saved my Christmas this year. more
