Street fair 4/14/2006

It is getting warmer outside, and that means it is almost street fair season in Denver. Taste of Colorado is at the end of the summer, and it is one of the best in a city with many street events. Taste of Colorado is almost always on one of the hottest days of the year, but it is never too hot to wander from booth to booth in the crush of the crowd, searching for the perfect funnel cake (or lamb kabob, or jambalaya, or whatever else strikes your fancy). There are the usual crafts booths and lots of musical stages, but food rules the day at Taste of Colorado. more

A Denver Summer Tradition! 2/21/2006

I never miss this great taste 'o fun! You need to be patient with both crowds (always) and heat (usually) on this Labor Day weekend fest, but if you can get past that, you will have an amazingly fun time. Booth after booth of every food type available. If the Taste doesn't have it--it probably doesn't exist. You can sample everything from fried ice cream to sushi. Bring your wallet, though--like everything it adds up, especially if you have kids! The entertainment is also wildly varied, so there is something for everyone. The rest of the booths cover everything from crafts to nonprofits. The thing that sets the Taste apart is its sheer size. It goes on forever! Plan on it for next labor Day if you haven't already been. more

Being a Colorado Native, I have enjoyed the Taste of Colorado for many years. I love trying all the different foods and seeing all the little booths that sell little items. Things you can only get in a fair type atmosphere. Since they have added games and rides to it, it makes it that much better. I have a two year old son and this year was his first time to the event. He loved it. He is a little eater, so we got him tastes of everything (which by the way, I love that you can sample everything with just one or two tickets, we usually make a meal of the samples!). more
