Ok, so if you've seen it on Throwdown with Bobby Flay and it's peeked your interest and you want to try it, go ahead, I did. The place is very small with minimal room to sit. Wh...

Fish and chips that stick to the ribs 5/13/2006

You have been warned: leave room in your stomach for A Salt and Battery. Even if you order the small platter of fried cod and chips, you're going to either want to lie down afterwards or go for a run. Given the thumbs up by my Brit, the fish and chips are very much like what's made at home. And that means crusty, greasy batter and chips (fries) served up with vinegar or mayonnaise as your condiments. They also serve beverages indigent to the Brits. If you have any room leftover after meal, which is unthinkable but...try the deep-fried Mars bar. That would be an acquired taste. more

british. fish. chips. beer. 4/1/2006

At first, I wanted to try this place because of its cute store name; but now, I want to go to the place because of their awesome fish & chips. They are a little expensive, but it's hard to find more authentic British fish & chips and they have British beer (which is always a plus)! The scallops are shrimp are as delicious as something deep-fried in batter would be, and if you are like my friend (who is allergic to shellfish), the cod and haddock is good as well. more

Best Name Award 3/15/2006

It just doesn't get more humorous. This chippie is run by the Tea & Sympathy gang and does its best to be as authentic as if it was on the other side of the Atlantic. I used to think it was the most expensive fish-n-chips meal I had ever bought, but considering where the American dollar stands these days it is probably about even with what is being charged in quid. Anyway, I've enjoyed the wrapped fish here and the chips are almost always good (occasionally too mushy). This is not a spot you should plan on visiting too frequently though as it is heart-attack city with all the oil & batter & fat. Which is why it tastes so good. more

As Good as English Cuisine Gets in the States... 1/12/2006

Though obviously its impossible to best authentic British fish and chips A Salt & Battery does a commendable job bring English fare to the states. Though seating is limited it is easy enough to carry your food, wrapped in an authentic British newspaper like it should be, to a nearby park on a nice day. However, before you leave, don't forget to buy a deep fried mars bar for dessert! more
