A & J Tailor Alterations

So I first took my dress to another alteration place, and the lady was very unprofessional, and told me she'd have my dress done on a tuesday.... about 2 weeks before my wedding. I went on this particular tuesday, and the lady didn't even start my dress yet!!!!! THEN, she wouldn't give my dress back when i wanted to take it else were. Horrible! So, I finally got the dress, and took it to A&J Tailor Alterations. She did fabulous! I couldn't have been happier!!! My dress is PERFECT. The price was sooooo reasonable, and it only took less than a week! She literally saved my behind, so I have a my dream dress on my dream day! Thank you A&J!!!!!!! more

I purchased my wedding gown at Macy's sample sale a year before my wedding. Since I had paid so little for my designer gown, I did not want to spend more on alterations that what I paid. I checked around at the bridal salons and tailors in the metro. After I talked with Alice, she provided me with confidence I needed to know that she would not ruin my wedding gown. Alice mentioned to me that she has extensive experience in prom and special occasion gowns. I brought the gown to A & J for shortening the length of the gown as well as a slight re-design to the bodice. Pros: Quick turn around, excellent quality, friendly service. Cons: Location is slightly confusing. Make sure to use Google Maps or mapquest before going. The space is old but the service is well worth it. more

I took a bridesmaid dress there after hearing from my friend who got her wedding gown altered there that it was a good place. Not only was it good, they were so helpful, they even took me to the store to get cups because I wasn't familiar with the area. My bridesmaid dress fit to a T. The dress was 2 sizes too large so it wasn't a small task. The price was very reasonable and I would take a dress there again in a heartbeat. Lately I took two pairs of pants there, jeans and business pants from Express, one to get hemmed, and one to see if she could make them fit better. They were done with perfection. The pair of pants that were too large in the back now fit me perfectly and they look great. The hem was done to a perfect length too. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Note that they have moved and their new address is 10301 University Ave NE. You don't need appointments and she had them done by the time I needed them three days later. Go there! A&J Tailor and Alterations was recommended to me from a good friend. She took a bridesmaid dress there, had extensive reboning and beadwork needing to be redone and it was very reasonable. I've taken three bridesmaid dresses to this location. I've had the hem taken up, reboning done on a corset top. They turned out great. The location isn't fancy but it's clean and they are very friendly. They don't take plastic so be sure to have cash or a check. You pay upfront. I would highly recommend this place to anyone...especially to bridesmaids looking for a great alternative to bridal salon alteration charges.
