A Formal Affair was the third store I had gone to to look for a wedding gown. I had found one at another store that I liked, but wasn't sure if it was the right one or not and wanted to keep looking. At first the consultant was nice and was helpful in listening to what I wanted, but then became pushy with an attitute. She also took her shoes off for the entire appointment, which I thought was extremely unprofessional, and we were her first appointment so her feet couldnt have been hurting that bad. I tried on a Pronovias gown and my mother made the comment "This is similiar to the other dress" (I had tried one on the week prior at another store). The consultant's attitude completely changed. She started grilling me with questions..."There is another dress?" "Where is it at?" "Does it cost less, how much less?" "Well it's not good quality and the fabric isn't as good as this gown" "Do you like this one more than the other one because if not, there is no point for me to spend the time talking to you about price or the dress anymore". EXCUSE ME! 1) I dont know if I like the other one better, that is why I am at YOUR store trying this gown on 2) Brides HATE pressure- take a hint. Is this how your sales staff is trained? To make first time brides feel pressured and unimportant if they like another dress better? If that is your tactic to get brides to buy dresses in your store, I would suggest you re-train everyone. Feeling pressured I decided to head over to the other store and try on the other dress I liked so I would have a good back to back comparison of the two dresses. Once I put their dress on, I knew it was the one. As I am getting my measurements taken, my consultant from A Formal Affair walks into this stores lobby to "check it out", I guess!!!! I didnt see her becasue I was getting my measurments taken but my mother and friends did. What the heck? Stalking your customers and other stores to see how busy they are compared to your lack of business is a little on the crazy side to me. I would NOT recommend!
