Great food, amazing. This place is a must!

Excellant food on ocean drive, awesome live music too! more

Enjoyable meal with a few glitches 12/26/2008

In general the food was excellent. There were a couple of problems. The waiter got the drink order wrong, hearing 3 traditional mojitos when we ordered 2 mango and 1 regular. Perhaps you could blame that on the street noise of a Friday night. The mussels in a tomato sauce with fennel were excellent! The mozzarella with tomatoes was OK, but the tomatoes had an icyness to them and when it was pointed out to the waiter he did....nothing. The entrees were much better. The special salmon with porcini mushrooms was perfectly done. The Mahi Mahi was beautiful. The Risotto with seafood was OK (smallish portion and the mussels in it were cold. The dessert menu was not particularly inspired, but that was fine since we were full. Location was superb for people watching, in particular a dog that kept walking by with a bucket in its mouth to collect change. Heaters were set up to keep us comfortable in the December coolness. Why anyone would want to sit inside is beyone me. more

Slow, rude service 12/3/2008

I can't speak to the quality of the food because we didn't stay there long enough to try it. After shoving their food at us while we were walking down the sidewalk, it took 15 min just to bring water to the table, and the waiter was a jerk on top of it. more

My husband and I were delighted with this restaurant.. Pros: Excellent Cuisine and Wine Cons: none more

Good Fish 2/21/2008

My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out and we just loved this place. The food was delicious, the service was fun and attentive, the music was a perfect touch. I would highly recommend the outdoor dining - you get to see all the action on sidewalk. The prices were reasonable, and the selection of wines were great. more

Perfect 1/25/2008

Their service is impeccable!..The food is exquisite. I am a seafood lover and this place fits my appetite. The chipotle shrimp is flavorful and i loved the seafood risotto. It has shrimp, mussels, and scallops. Perfect! I will definitely be back! more

Terrific fish and service 11/11/2007

My wife and I were here last night and we were blown away. The service was terrific - Ricardo was very helpful with out special requests. My wife has a gluten intolerance and he checked with the chef on a number of items. He suggested a terrific white wine at a reasonable cost. The manager was also very friendly and asked how everything was going. The food was delicious. We had the scallops and chipotle shrimp to start and the redfish and mahi for dinner. All were done to perfection. Even the band was great! Highly recommended. Pros: Great value, seafood prepared perfectly Cons: none more

Love it! 12/5/2006

Whenever I am in South Beach I eat here. Last November, my husband and I were with friends and leaving for a cruise the next morning. We had no time for much partying as we wanted to rest up for the next day but I made sure to make outdoor seating reservations for all of us at AFCA and we had a fabulous time. This was everyone else's first time in South Beach and they were impressed. The food, the wine... Bravo! Again and Again. I'll be back in February and my trip would not be complete without a visit to my favorite eatery. Great service, great food, very romantic. Loves it! Pros: people watching and ocean front more

Good seafood at Avalon 11/22/2006

No problems here with quality or service. In fact everything has been hunky dory with appetizers as well as main courses in the seafood category. Never tried anything other than seafood here. Excellent atmosphere more

Good Place -- service just 'okay 1/29/2006

Overall, I recommend this place. The food was excellent (though if it's the best in Miami as it claims, I might be a bit worried). Fun and upbeat atmosphere -- the service was a little shoddy and what's even more annoying is that the 18% tip is automatically added into the bill, so you cannot even tip based on your satisfaction with the staff. Great wine list and the menu pairs each dish with a wine, which is helpful. Pros: good food, wine pairing list Cons: auto tipping more

Can't miss here.... 2/29/2004
