Avalon was an amazing restaurant with great food, great drinks, and great service. Orlando took great care of us and tendered to our every need. Great place to take your significant other. Expensive but well worth it. more

The food was outstanding but there was a long wait between starter and entree, I mean really long. It was extremely loud hard to have a conversation at the table. There was a table celebrating birthday that clearing had gotten out of control. The server was terrific and apologized for the long wait and offered a desert. more

My wife and I really enjoyed Avalon as a "date night" for the excellent food, live music and entertaining people coming in off the beach. The waiter and staff were very personable and gave great recommendations. The chef's specials really stood out; the regular menu items were good but not as good as the chef's specials and the waiter's recommendations. more

Our first trip to South Beach with friends and they took us here...WOW. I had the best salmon of my life! It was the fresh catch special and it was huge, grilled with a crunchy outer layer and very, very tasty! Served with sticky rice and vegies and I was in heaven. We also had a yummy wine.\r We sat on the patio and other than the wind that was blowing my hair everywhere, it was a wonderful experience.\r Our friends have eaten here before and I am sure we will visit again. Great server and excellent support staff.. more

WOW!!! 3/15/2010

I went to Avalon for dinner and was blown away by the service, my meal (a tasty dish of shrimp over deliciously seasoned grits) was absolutely fantastic and the pitcher of sangria was just not enough. I like that it's located away from some of the noise of the more touristy places on Ocean Drive so you can enjoy your company and great conversation but still close enough to people watch. more

we enjoyed the food here and of course sitting outside and people watching is always fun on south beach, i really enjoyed my bang bang shrimp. just becareful and remember that most paces here add the tip on your bill.\r this restaurant is also very expensive. more

Eh...local favorite turned tourist trap. Mediocre and overpriced. Looking forward to a great meal after reading reviews. The service was ok, more concerned on upselling and only attentive if you were ordering something. The food was good but for the price we expected great. Calamari was oily (good amount of calamari to breading ratio. Braised short rib was a bit dry and did not have the "guava" glaze it claimed to have. Florida grouper was cooked well, but nothing special. more

Very average food. We had 6 meals none were above average. Over spiced, lack of flavor, plain dishes. They did have live music which was nice, but there are many better places if you want good food. more
