I never went here but its sounds like that guy who's baby got bit is an idiot. Dog's that are good with kids doesn't mean their going to get along with a baby. Dog's bite sometime...

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/8/2013

I read what joymm82 said, and I thought about it. First I wouldn't give a puppy that I only had for 2 days that much access to a baby. Puppies have very sharp teeth, they are not trained when you buy them. Puppies nip even when they are just playing. An untrained puppy can get to excited. I don't think the kennel is the problem, maybe the parents are to blame here. more

Found my best friend here...and the cover paperwork properly 1/12/2012

I got my Yorkie, Simba, from here. They went over all the paperwork with me and took the time to explain important things like to mix their food before changing it, and gave papers explaining helpful things like potty training, food, stool, etc. He did get sick (diarrhea) after being home for 2 days, but I suspect it was just because of change of atmosphere (I took him to the vet for tests but he was all good)! I fell in love with him the second I held him in my arms. I live 1 1/2 hours away so was very grateful that they took a deposit over the phone. My life is so much better with this little buddy :) They have a good warranty plan and the way they cover things is great. more

Mind your Ignorance 3/1/2011

I never went here but its sounds like that guy who's baby got bit is an idiot. Dog's that are good with kids doesn't mean their going to get along with a baby. Dog's bite sometimes especially a new pup brought into an unfamialiar place it was probably just playing. I think maybe an infant and dog our to much for that guy to handle. Puppy mills are horrible mostly forced inbred dogs stacked up in small cages on top of each other just crapping and pissing on one another. The person might just spray them down with a hose to rid the stench a little bit. It's not pets to those people it's more like a cash crop and people who do that should be treated the same way. more

Hey Morons 4/15/2010

I read the reviews below claiming this place was a puppy mill and decided to do some research on my own. This is what i found out. This IS a family owned business. They have been in business for what i can tell at least 35 years and It started in Dover PA. It was started by the father, and an Uncle. Now all the children from both are involved, some have kennels, some have store fronts, some have both. So YES, they are all related. No one is Amish either. All are Mennonite. I'm not sure if the racist below is aware but Amish and Mennonite aren't the same thing. And there are different degrees of being a Mennonite. Lets really do our research before we slander people! I also checked for violations, i can't find anything, one of the children apparently shares a name with an amish breeder which almost threw me off but, i noticed the address was different.. I am a professional K9 trainer by trade and know that puppys don't just start biting for no reason after 2 days. I can't count the number of times i've heard this complaint over the years and once i get to the clients house the children are unsupervised and terrorizing the already scared puppy. The problem is that we use the term puppy mill and don't really know what that means. The fanitics make it out to sound like uncontrolled and horrible conditions, but any commercial kennel is considered a puppy mill. This means any experienced kennel that breeds for profit. I know another word for that.. PROFESSIONAL. I found that all commercial kennels that are licensed are subject to numerous state, federal, and local inspections. While your hobby breeder is not. I also, found out that the required conditions are so strict that the SPCA has filed for an exemption, because they can't afford to keep their facilities that clean, and up to date. Interesting indeed. I don't know about you, but I'd rather buy from somewhere that big brother is watching. These animal activists are all the same, i would bet you, the person below, didn't even get a puppy from these people. It's probably all a smear campaign. They go after dog breeders, horse breeders, dairy, chicken, and pig farmers too. I'm also an avid hunter, and we are next. Pros: Awesome, Family Owned for 40 years Cons: The morons below more

A Great Place with Some Idiot Customers 4/5/2010

Well, some of the reviews below are comical. I bought my little female Bichonpoo from this family a little over a year ago. I know quite a bit about animals myself, but boy did I get an education while purchasing Posey! The family and their employees are friendly, intelligent and automatically make you feel as if they love the puppies and want to be your best friend! Pros: sweet puppies, excellent service, stick to their warranty Cons: nothing worth mentioning :-) more

DO NOT BUY PUPPIES FROM HERE - PUPPY MILL SELLER!!!! 3/3/2010

I bought a puppy from this place last week & after home for a few days the puppy started biting and becoming very mean. I was told the breed that I purchased was ""great for small kids"" and only 2 days later she turned on my 1yr old and started biting him and myself. This is NOT a good puppy for small children! I did some research online using the paperwork they gave me w/the breeders name on it and was appaulded at what I found! This ""breeder"" is an Amish Puppy mill owner that has been in business for years & has been sited numerous times!!! SHUT DOWN THIS BUSINESS!!! There's nothing ""family owned"" about it other than the fact they like to make them money as a family!! DO NOT BUY PUPPIES FROM AA RIDGEWOOD KENNELS!!!!! Pros: cute puppies Cons: This place sells puppys from Amish puppy mill! more

Great people 10/26/2009

So I got my little Yorkie from this Place on Saturday. I checked this place out, including breeders, and found nothing wrong with any of it. I have no idea what the person below was talking about. You get at least an hour instruction on caring for your new baby. It has been an enjoyable experience and I would recommend this place to everyone who is searching for a new member of the family. Pros: Instruction, Warranty, all shots, AA certified more

Puppy mills behine this place 9/19/2009

I bought my dog from them and after reviewing the papers later I saw that his kennel name was different. After researching this kennel name I found that they were a puppy mill in Ephrata. I am disgusted and disappointed that I didn't see this earlier. I researched this place online before we bought from them and I found nothing but positives. I wanted to let people know to look deeper. They claim to be a family owned place BUT they get their puppies from other kennels. The one my dog came from had 707 dogs last year and that was ONE of the kennels that person owned. Please do not support this place. I am ashamed I did. Also if I wanted a puppy mill dog I could have paid hundreds less at the mill. I visited two other ""kennels"" and did not buy from them because I suspected they were a mill. Pros: nice staff, given information about animal Cons: Kennels on paper not what they claim to be more

Perfect Puppies!!! 5/21/2007

I cannot believe what an awesome experience we had picking out a new puppy at AA Ridgewood Kennels! We picked up a local Lancaster newspaper, found an ad for the kennel, called, and were there within the hour. Our hearts were immediately stolen when we saw a little female Yorkie Poo through the glass window. We knew instantly that she had to be our ""new love"". We got to play and bond with our new puppy on the floor of the facility, which was a very nice way to start out. As soon as we made our decision to take this sweet darling home with us, Amy was extremely helpful and devoted to only us. She took the time to go over all of the final paperwork and explain everything in detail. This is our first puppy and Amy was very considerate in answering all of our questions (which there were plenty of!). After all of the doggy preparation, our precious Yorkie Poo was cleaned up, had her nails cut, and was presented to us with an adorable pink bow in her hair. The process was very efficient but yet full of quality. I would highly recommend AA Ridgewood Kennels to anyone even thinking of getting a new puppy. The selection was great, the pricing was just right, and the staff are all very, very helpful and kind. This is the type of place you want to leave with a happy, healthy new puppy! :) Pros: Loved the staff. Loved the puppy interaction. Perfect puppy with all up-to-date shots. Cons: Small shop. Easy to miss on the corner street. more

Great People Cutest Pups 11/26/2006

Just this past Aug while my husband Ed and i were visiting sfamily....we began looking for a place to get a puppy. We live in Florida. AA Ridgewood had an ad in the local paper so we phoned and they had 1 Malti-Poo female in the store...within 1/2 an hour we there. One look at the puppy and i knew she was mine we named her Molly on the spot. Pros: GREAT all the way more

Great Service and adorable HEALTHY puppies!! 9/3/2006

I just bought a 2 month old Chihuahua there and the staff was more than knowledgeable, they wouldn't let me take him home until the next day when I had enough time to sit with them and go over all of his needs for feeding and care. They offer a LIFETIME guarantee on there puppies and they are always nice about any questions I have when I get nervous or feel like I am over my head. The puppies there are very friendly and seem to be well fed and cared for. They took a few out while I was there to play and the little guys had a blast!! The staff obviously genuinely cares for there pups because they demand that any one to leave the shop MUST be spoiled, LOL, actually I was told it was a prerequisite. :) I am very satisfied with my decision, considering there are so many puppy mills in my area, it is a shame that many people here get sick puppies and no recourse. Not to mention the unspeakable conditions these little ones are kept in. So for anyone local or otherwise looking for a great place to find a great pet, AA is defiantly my top choice!! ( I am not affiliated with them so, trust me when I say, I am just being honest to help anyone who knows how the local dog market is handled here in Lancaster and the surrounding areas.) Also, they have a huge doggie boutique with all sorts of cool things for your little guy or girl!! Food, treats, leads, stylish collars, and funniest of all ""Doggie Caviar""....I swear, how cool is that!! :) Anyway, long story short, visit them and you will see, it is a great place with honest, trustworthy and most importantly KNOWLEDGABLE people!! I am happy to write this review and I truly hope it helps someone that is looking for a little angel to bring home!! Thanks again AA, you guys are great!! -Amber :) Pros: Great prices, nice staff and awesome little puppies to choose from.... Cons: I got lost a bit and the only other con is that I couldn't take them all home, LOL!! more
