Waiting 10/12/2010

Pagliai's pizza is okay but I've had better. I've been here quite a few times and have never had outstanding service or food. Everything is standard but I think they have the potential to be better and I always hear such great things about them but still have yet to experience it. Pagliai's is in walking distance from downtown so my friends and I come here quite a bit. But I'm waiting for the day they impress me with their food. more

I love Pagliai's pizza. Fresh sausage, tons of cheese...mmmm! Beware though-they limit you to one pitcher of beer if you go, so don't expect to get crazy at this restaurant! more

Pagliai's Pizza is very good, but pricey. 8/12/2009

Pagliai's is very good. It's probably one of the better pizzas in town. It is expensive though. It's one of our "treat" pizza places as opposed to the just want some kind of pizza places. The crust is a thicker one, more like a focaccia. Very good texture and flavor. I do look forward to going back. more

A family tradition 5/28/2009

My mom used to live over this restaurant and before I went to college, she raved about their yummy pizza. This is one of the more expensive varieties in the area, but totally worth it for the homemade taste. Ask the staff for their favorite variety instead of going with your usual. more

Walking by Pagliai's will stop anyone in their tracks!! Located in downtown Iowa City amongst the hustle and bustle of student-life you will find this amazing pizza restaurant. We enjoy the unique taste of their pizza and can easily say we'll be back again! more

top pizza in USA 9/29/2007

We have eaten pizza here for 40 years and will drive out of our way a hundred miles to eat here or in a sister restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa. Crisp crust, premium ingredients, minimal atmosphere add up to a real old time pizza joint and, in our opinion, our favorite after travel (and pizza) in all 50 states. Awesome pizza 10/25/2006

I don't like thin crust pizza. But I LOVE Pagliai's! On a somewhat regular basis we get ourselves a large Palace Special. We rarely have any left for breakfast the next morning. They have their ovens and the pizza makers in the front of the store where passers-by can watch them creating these thin masterpieces. Do your taste buds a favor and stop in at Pagliai's the next time you are in town. PROS: Awesome thin crust pizza! CONS: more

In my opinion, this is the best pizza store/restaurant in Iowa City! It is a family owned business since 1962 still run by its founder. He's a real Italian and knows his pizza! Pros: Inexpensive, fresh ingredients more
