Dave is a great guy, and this store is a throwback to REAL music stores! I have dealt with them several times and they have always been fair. Great (and rare) gear, great musicians always hanging around, and great prices. Best guitar shop in the Indy metro! more

I bought a used acoustic, paid a fair price, and was treated well. My only issue is that it's a fairly messy place. Some of what you might want to look at is hard to get to due to clutter. When I was there, an automobile seat was kinda tossed to the front of the store, like they had no other place to put it? This type of thing doesn't reflect well for the business. Otherwise, prices seem fair. more

Reminds me of the friendly small-town stores where I grew up in the 60s - players hangin' around playin', lots of just plain wonderful guitar stuff all over the place, axes & amps you seldom see elsewhere and a proprietor (Dave!) who has lots of musical miles on him and is just plain fun to be around. When I was there yesterday there was a young fella pickin a Tele, makin great music with a greybeard (like me) who was working an old Guild acoustic - impromptu concert by two guys a generation apart. The place exists because Dave loves this stuff, loves the music and the gear and loves the people who hang out there - the feeling hits you instantly you walk in. This is a place for real players, or anybody who wants to be one....bring your humility and you'll be fine. Come here once, and if you have any music in your soul at all, you'll never darken the door at Guitar Center again. It's 160 miles one way from my house to here, and I plan to be a regular visitor. I deal with the owner on a weekly bases now.. I am 27 and have been playing music, for 19 years.. I have bought 10 or more guitars from Dave and at least 4-5 amps, and he has bought mine and traded as well.. He's as honest as they come, he will tell you if the neck is off of this or that whats original whats not, etc.. Most importantly he's fare.. I was in a pinch a few years ago, and needed to pay a 750 bill asap.. I had a amp Rivera Quiana, I called dave and told him my situation, he gave me 750 for the amp. NO STORE IN THIS STATE WOULD DO THAT. He knew he would profit, but a payout of 750 on the spot with one phone call.. I have bought 2guitars and one amp there within the last week.. Fairest guy I know, you might as well be at a guitar show trading amongst friends.. Atmosphere is super comfy, and gear is NICE not junk like every other store in town... He wont sell junk thats what make his store different.. I almost hate posting this, bc 6strings is my little secret,, most of the Indie/Younger crowd wont venture out to Plainfield if they did they would most likely find what your looking for... I have called and had the check blue book values,, basically call about anything.... Now thats the shop half of it.. Lets get to services offered.. Dace deals directly with Kevin Silva from Uncle Alberts, and has a amazing Guitar technician as well.. Not only are the products great hes not sparin a dime on repairs, he uses the best. To the lady below who hastly left that review,, sounds like you need to know what your lookin at yourself first, its not his job to tell you if he has to you shouldnt be buying and selling Fender's or Gibsons.. Traded a very nice gibson and crate amp for What I thought was a fender telecaster, it had a fender stamp on the neck a few weeks later found out that no part of the guitar was a fender. when we went back to the store and confronted the owner he said he did not tell us that it was a fender, which maybe true but he knew we thought it was and i feel he took advantage of that he refused to buy back any of the equipment we had please be careful if you go to this shop I know all business need to make money but i feel this one is just a little on the shady side Pros: none that i saw Cons: see details more

A very friendly atmosphere. I enjoy looking at all the instruments!! Also, 6 Strings Down sounds like an awesome name for a band!!! I love it!! Pros: Excellent customer service!!! Great prices!!! Cons: None that I am aware of. more
