I can say without a doubt that 38 Degrees meets or exceeds our dining expectations every time we dine at this outstanding establishment. From the minute we walk in the door and are greeted by the owner, Jeff or any of his friendly staff we feel welcome and know we are in for a treat. The decor is warm and has an "old world" feel that sets the pace for a relaxing evening.
We usually like a little wine with our dinner and we prefer to have Jeff select one of his bottles that he feels will compliment our meal. We are so pleased with his choice that we rarely need to look at the wine menu. He has a passion for selecting and serving a wine that will please your senses every time.
The menu changes every few months, typically with the seasons and each time it is filled with delicious choices. We usually start with the mez trio which consists of warm pita bread and 3 different spreads such as a hummus, pomegranite salsa and a feta cheese dip. Each one is a compliment to the other and we find it absolutely delicious!
We like to share each of the plates, more ways to make our taste buds go crazy, so we usually order a variety of dishes. The North African Peanut Chicken is very flavorful and has just the right amount of spice. You can't go wrong with any of the fish dishes either, they have a way of making the fish so tender and full of flavor. If you have a desire for Italian you will be pleasantly surprised with their pasta dish of the season. For a side dish you should try the spinach, my friend Leah has never been so pleased with the preparation of spinach in her life! It is prepared with a few pine nuts and raisins which brightens up the flavors.
If you have room for dessert, try the ice cream rolled in baklava or the creme brulee, both are an outstanding way to finish the meal!
Next time you are trying to decide what restaurant to choose, remember 38 Degrees, outstanding food, great service, beautiful views and the price is right too!
