I almost couldn't swear that there is a vacuum cleaner clinic in this place...but I guess I have seen them over in a corner. I'm always so entranced by the beautiful fabrics and notions that they have in stock. You'll find the shop on Willamette Street, at the corner of 27th.
This is the place if you want to make some super special garments, or are looking for beautiful pieces to incorporate into a crafting project or quilt.
I've found batik, velvet, silk and satin. Incredible buttons, too. All unusual, and many bold and beautiful designs. They also carry patterns, books and sewing machines. Specialize in Bernina machines (which I can't afford...darn it!)
27th Street also features classes. Often samples are on display showing the items you'll learn to make -- sometimes their instructors include well known national names like Eleanor Peace Bailey, other times it is local instruction from people who have great creative spirits. The classes are usually good buys, and it's a wonderful way to make a few gift items before the holiday season.
One of my favorite things is their annual Pajama Party -- wear your PJs and get a discount. I think they do a Halloween special, too.
