I arranged to have a concrete pad poured for a deployed service member so we could move a hot tub onto it. She sent me a check to have this work done and I called 2 Extreme Concrete and had the estimate done. We agreed on the work and the price. I wrote her check out for the full amount of the project, $750. The owner, Craig Rose, took her check and cashed it right away with a promise to get the work done before August 6, which was the date the hot tub mover was to do the move. He guaranteed me that it would be done by that time and he took the check July 21st and cashed it. After being put off a few times, he called and said he was sick and then I never heard from him again for another week, well, it was well after I had to cancel the move of the hot tub. No communication, no word, nothing. I called and left numerous messages on his voicemail as he wouldn't answer his phone. I find it frustrating to be taken for $750, but to take that from a soldier serving out country in Kuwait, it's heartless. He called me back tonight and was in a state that I could barely understand him. He said I broke that contract and he bid the job too low. I asked if he wanted to do the work, then when...he started going on about not making anything off this job, so I said, give her her money back then...that's when he said I'd have a judge tell me I broke the contract. This is not a fair, professional individual, no communication and not a man of his word. Bid a job, stick with the bid, and stick with the timeline. I've never had such a frustrating experience. On top of it, he's added stress to an already stressful job, serving our country. This service member should not have the added stress of being ripped off $750. Craig Rose is not a man of his word! She just wants her money back to hire a reliable contractor.
