My son is just finishing up his third year at 10th Street and he could not be happier there! The pure joy he experiences every day at school warms my heart and makes me so proud to be a part of such a great community.\r \r My daughter just started at 10th Street a few months ago and she already feels right at home. Her wonderful teachers make her feel special each and every day. It's amazing how new children are so celebrated at this school!\r \r As a parent I feel like I've found a place that supports me just as much as my children. Clearly, 10th Street is a perfect match for us! more

My oldest son has been at this school for just over a year, and my youngest has been there a few months. We are truly delighted with the warm loving environment, and the teachers are truly amazing. \r The school really practices what it preaches 'come through kindness learn through play'.\r They have made great friends, have come on in leaps and bounds with their confidence, and ability to articulate their feelings, and it makes me so happy to see them thriving at this school. \r They love going to preschool every day, and I can't think of a better place to prepare them for kindergarten. more

We have been at 10th Street for 3 years and love the school's warm, welcoming spirit. My daughter is in her third year and is in the Pre-K Group (which prepares children in their last year for kindergarten readiness). My son recently completed 10th Street's Little School program and is about to start official preschool. Both my children have developed confidence, made amazing relationships with friends and teachers and are enjoying school. The school really practices their saying ""Come from Kindness, Learn through Play."" The teachers and staff care about each child and are able to respond if they see a need. For example, earlier this year, they noticed that in general the girls were having trouble finding their voices. In response, 10th Street started ""Girl's Group,"" where a small group of girls meet weekly to discuss empowerment, confidence, and similar topics. Each girl in the group has a chance to speak and share their feeling. My daughter and her friends really love this group and look forward to it. It is so wonderful that the teachers came together to address this. I cannot imagine a better preschool for my children and for my family than 10th Street. \r more

Come from kindness. :earn through play 2/18/2012

As a parent of a child in her third year at 10th Street, I cannot think of a better environment for my child. Due to the dedication of the teachers, amazing leadership and administration of the school, I have seen my child blossom from a timid child to a self-confident, resilient, bright and loving young girl. The Director's philosophy of ""Come from kindness, learn through play"" plays a part in every aspect of the school. Teachers truly care about the growth and well-being of your child and do an incredible job of communicating with parents. The children could not be happier or more fulfilled. It's truly a community, a supportive parent body with down to earth families, a breath of fresh air on the Westside. With the introduction of DK (Developmental Kindergarten) this year, my daughter is more than ready to embrace Kindergarten in the Fall. I, on the other hand, will find it very hard to leave such a special school.\r more

Great Preschool- Structure, Kindness, Astute Insight 9/23/2010

I still remember our first meeting. The first question I asked Cindy was whether the preschool was Reggio as is the Westside trend these days. Her answer: ""To me the trends are not important. What I practice is: How do I reach your child?"" I was sold. She is always on the side of the children. Cindy is remarkable in her perception of our children and what they need. Be ready to be partners with the school and take all steps and measures to support and grow your precious miracle to the best of their potential! We love this about the school, as well as the strong rules and structure. Our son needed structure and rules and hands on guidance, so it was perfect for us. They emphasize kindness and respect and decency in a nurturing and safe atmosphere. Our son is flourishing! Parents are allowed to participate at whatever level they want. We love coming in for story time, hobby time and bringing the class snacks. The families are phenomenal. We have found alot of families with similar values- a very loving, supportive, inclusive enviroment. We came in mid year and felt right at home in a short period of time. This has been a great experience. more

Cindy Wasson's preschool in Santa Monica, CA 11/16/2009

My wife and I enrolled my daughter here for toddler class and then for part of her first preschool year. I would strongly advise prospective parents against doing the same. As a new parent going through my first school experience I had nothing to really compare it with. For those of you in the same boat I'm going to keep things short and simple; this was not a good fit for our child or for us. We found Cindy Wasson, the owner and head of school, to be uncommunicative and defensive to the point of rudeness. Questions regarding our child's experience at the school were rarely answered and our daughter was very unhappy. We took her out of the school after about six weeks of her first semester and found a much better fit at another preschool in Santa Monica. Of course Cindy refused to refund the balance of our child's tuition for the year (which we had paid in advance). This was frustrating because they immediately filled the vacancy. But the most galling thing about the whole experience was the utter disregard for our child's emotional well-being and the poor quality of her early-childhood educational experience. I've also posted this review on Yelp. Pros: None. Cons: Gives elitist and expensive private schools a bad name. more

good school but only for the SUPER RICH 7/3/2007

this school was very good for our child but they are nasty and greedy when it comes to parent relations and if you're not a rich celebrity, forget it. you will be asked to pay for everything from snack, clothing for other children, the 'facebook,' and even cleanup day! if you don't pay on time, watch out -- they will report you to a COLLECTION AGENCY. great for kids but greedy director is only interested in celebrities and money. Pros: great for kids Cons: greedy money hungry director more
