Service Dept Sabotaged my car 4/29/2010

Have a 2000 Cambry V-6 with 60,000 mi. The starter went bad so took it to Toyota of Marin. Also had them do the 60k check-up. Got the car back and within a day it began to shift itself into reverse whenever forward speed decreased to about 5 mph. Checked all fuses and noticed that the licenses plate and truck lights weren't getting electricity, checked its wires and noticed that three wires going into the truck lid were cut. I Spliced the three wires and the lights began working and the spontaneous shifting into reverse stopped. The Check Engine light was still on though, the fault code indicating the EGR flow was excessive and some \r manufacture/Instruction fault. This fault is keeping me from passing the smog check and hence getting the car registered in California. With some research I've \r learned that these fault codes, no matter how much reapir and new parts you pay for, will eventually come back once they start. I bought this car new from them \r and paid dearly for the service. The wires were cut in their service dept and the onboard computer hasn't been right since. \r \r \r more

Toyota Marin is simply the best. 12/16/2009

Easiest car buying experience ever! The service I encountered at this dealership was outstanding! Ritsa and Keith helped me get the car I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. I walked away feeling GREAT about my decision and highly recommend this place over any other dealership in the Bay Area. more

Toyota Marin is awesome! 12/15/2009

Wonderful service from Toyota Marin. Brian Moore, the salesman, was terrific and completed an excellent deal for me in minutes. Got a Prius at well below the prices offered at other dealers in the area. Folks at Toyota Marin were friendly and helpful. Fun doing business with them. R. Haro more

Toyota Marin is Best in the Bay Area 12/14/2009

Toyota Marin puts other car dealers to shame. This business is a class act. We recently did business with them and it was a class act experience. Especially Tyler. Looking for a salesman that will treat you right and not play any games with you? Tyler is your guy. I did not want to go through the hassle of the back and forth shopping and dealing and such, so I did my homework online, contacted Toyota Marin and spoke with Tyler. It was a very pleasant experience and for that Toyota Marin has won over future business when the family is in the market for another car. Keep it up! more

Toyota Marin is worth the drive. 12/5/2009

We bought our 2010 Prius from Toyota Marin in Aug 2009. Our experience was very rewarding as we were patiently guided through the steps of decision making and purchase. Our salesman was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We were pleased and willing to travel from the Santa Rosa area to get our car at Toyota Marin. We have also recommended them to others looking for a Toyota. more

Toyota Marin is the most professional organization 12/2/2009

Toyota of Marin is the most professional dealership I have ever come across in the last 25 years. I have bough two cars from them in the last 2 years and am in the process of buying another car right now. In all instances, they have honored the prices they agreed to over the phone and did better by throwing some free stuff. Sales people are straightforward and come the final numbers pretty quickly thus not wasting anybody's time. Paperwork is quick. Service department is great in terms of on time services and offering special prices to customers. I also find that the work gets done utmost honesty. I highly recommend it. more

BUYER BEWARE!!! 5/13/2009

started by searching for used cars online. I found a car that I was interested in at Toyota Marin. I indicated my interest via an online form and I received a call from them immediately. My husband and I went to see the car over the weekend. First of all, the used cars are posted for sale on sites like Auto Trader before they have been inspected and serviced and cleaned. So we found ourselves looking at newly traded in vehicles that still had not been serviced and cleaned including the car we were interested in which had obvious cosmetic problems that the picture didn't show. The sales guy listened to what I was looking for in a car and he steered us to a used Volvo. It looked like it had been taken care of and he assured me that they don't trade in lemons and they don't sell them. He assured me that the vehicle would be fully inspected , that it was guaranteed and they would repair anything that they found that would be a problem and we would get a report to indicate what they found and what they did fix and what they didn't fix and we could look at it before taking the car off the lot. We never did get that report. He assured us that they check carfax and that they are a dealership with integrity, offering a 3 day return although I can tell you now that 3 days usually isn't enough time to discover the problems that you will inevitably find if you buy a used car from Toyota Marin. When there was some problem with financing, they tried to steer me to some crappy little car that had nothing to do with my original needs and when I said okay, thanks but no thanks and began to leave, he had me wait and suddenly they were able to finance the car. I wish now that I had kept walking. \r \r They kept the car for the inspection, cleaning and service. When my husband picked it up, he was not given the carfax report nor was he given the inspection report. A week after we got the car, the check engine light went on. We brought it back and Dennis in service sent it to Volvo of Marin and repairs were supposedly made. We never received the diagnostic report from Volvo. However, since the repair was covered, we figured that was it. However, 6 weeks later, the check engine light went on again and the car was bucking and stuttering. We were told by Toyota of Marin to go to the nearest Volvo dealership since we bought a warranty from Toyota Marin that would only be honored if we went to a certified dealership. Volvo in Walnut Creek told us that all five ignition coils were cracked, one badly, and they highly recommended replacing all five ignition coils and the spark plugs. The spark plugs? Toyota of Marin was supposed to do an inspection and tune up and replace everything basic like oil filters and spark plugs. And yet, there we were having to replace the spark plugs along with five very obviously cracked ignition coils. When Volvo called our Warranty company, they refused to pay for the repairs. \r \r So not only does Toyota Marin sell lemons they also sell useless and bad Warranties on used cars. So far, the repairs have cost us 900 dollars plus 90 for a rental. Our awesome finance deal? Our car payments are 350 dollars a month. When I called the General Manager of Toyota of Marin and left a detailed message of what happened, he never returned my call. The sales guy, a floor manager in the used car division, Jordan Sanchez, returned my husband's repeated calls five days after our initial call to tell my husband that it's just ""normal wear and tear."" Normal wear and tear on a car we have had for 6 weeks? You don't get five cracked ignition coils after six weeks of using a car. Every service person who we have talked to from Svennsons to Volvo in Walnut Creek to our local repairman in Lafayette all said that's bogus. They have all said we got screwed. So avoid Toyota of Marin. \r \r DO NOT SHOP AT TOYOTA MARIN!!!!!\r Pros: NO PROS Cons: LIARS WHO SELL LEMONS more

Polite, no pressure from the salesperson (Bodhi) to purchase. I would highly recommend Bodhi to others. more

Super Salespeople 11/21/2008

We went into Marin Toyota and Jonathan was there to help us out. He was super, gave us a good deal on the car and was very fair. I had never been to this dealership before but will be recommending it to my family and friends. more

Expectations Met 11/17/2008

I came to the local toyota dealership because I like Corollas and was looking to buy a new one. I requested an appointment with an older salesperson and I got exactly what I wanted. I told him up front that I didn't want any pressure to purchase any extra benefits and he was curteous and respected my request - I felt no pressure. All of my highest expectations were met. more

Great Service 11/17/2008

I was referred here by a friend and was impressed by the service I received. My car was ready for pick up when I arrived, and the staff was very knowledgeable when I asked question in regards to the car. Everyone was very friendly and I left happy. more

The salesman are shady 12/30/2007

After stringing me along for three days with multiple assurances and a written mutually agreed upon buying price, I dragged my family in there to purchase a new Prius. After two more hours of viewing and talking about the car at the agreed upon price, we stood ready to pay. Then the salesman disappeared to draw up the paperwork and returned to explain that this price was no good - he had to raise the price. To top it off, one of the managers I had been working with started lying to rationalize the sudden price jump. Classic bait-and-switch. more

Didn't Properly Test Car 6/16/2007

I was considering purchasing a used Toyota from a private party. Toyota Marin agreed to asses the car for me. They kept the car longer than agreed, and when the tests were 'complete' they had only checked minor things like tire pressure & fluid levels. They hadn't done any engine tests! The owner wanted the car back for another potential buyer so I couldn't insist on additional testing by Toyota Marin. I found the approximately $120 fee a total waste and Toyota Marin's assessment a misrepresentation. I later called Toyota Marin & asked one of the mechanics, given the tests done, did he have enough information to recommend his mother purchase the car? He acknowledged he did not know enough about the engine status from tests done and did not know enough to recomend the purchase. more

Toyota Marin is the best 3/26/2007

Toyota Marin is the place where I run whenever I am in need of any part or accessory for my Toyota Corolla. Most preferred and reliable as they are, I am happy to treat my car with the best of things available in their dealership. Also, I would like to say here that, I enjoy to be pampered by their pleasing hospitality. Toyota Marin guys are the best. They know how to retain their customers. more

Good service department... 11/25/2005

This dealership is conveniently located right off the freeway. I use their service department to have the major maintenance services done for my car. The staff there is very friendly and I am usually able to make an appointment the same week. The mechanics do a pretty good job too. more
