Review content:
I decided late in my pregnancy that I wanted a doula, and if I hadn't done it I would have missed out on so much. Kathy's experience was invaluable while I was in labor and later at the hospital. I wouldn't have gotten the birth that I wanted without her.
She genuinely loves babies and families and it shows through in the way that she connects with her clients.
She comes for two home visits during the pregnancy, once to sit and discuss options and the second time to go over relaxation techniques for the birth itself. After my labor started getting stronger she came and spent the entire night with me, getting me through the contractions and supporting my husband.
She was with me every minute in the hospital, and acted as liaison between us and the nurses. This allowed my husband to concentrate on what was happening, and gave him a break when he really needed. She stayed long enough to make sure that we were all comfortable.
Later there was one home visit. She is a little higher than other local doulas because of her level of experience, but I would have willingly paid her twice as much. Even if you haven't thought about using a doula before you should consider giving her a call, you won't regret it.
