The cost of college keeps rising and rising, and soon many of us will not be able to afford a college education. Or maybe you are looking for a career change, something more challenging than what you're doing now. Community college is the answer. You can get a myriad of degrees from most community colleges, or at least begin the track for a University degree. Peralta Community Colleges are centrally located in Berkeley and Oakland, and are nearby public transportation. The classes are reasonably priced at $18 per credit unit, making most classes in the $75 range. I've been taking art classes at Vista Community College, which is part of the Peralta Colleges, in Berkeley for the past three years. I strictly go to night school because I have to work full time and go to school. I am 3 classes away from an Associate's Degree in Fine Art from Vista, and I am very proud of that.
