Review content:
I just came from the Ocenaire in Baltimore and had dinner with a friend. The waitress was nice but often unavailable. The pickled Herring was the WORST choice of a table appetizer when on a date! That is unless you LIKE your breath to smell like a dead fish in the Harbor! The Cesar salad was more anchovies than anything else- disgusting! The meal was FAR below average and the Au gratin potatoes were loaded with cheese and not much flavor. The fried green tomatoes were breaded in so much cornmeal we wondered if there were any tomatoes in them at all. The main course was bland and unimpressive for the price. When I pay that kind of money, I want a meal that I CANNOT cook better myself. This was not the case. The only positive was the suggestion of wine which was a French Chardonnay which was excellent. The sorbet at the end of the meal was a great way to get the pungent fish smell off our breath. Oh and they also gave us chocolate chip cookies for desert which were harder than that 6 month old "treat" your dog left behind the couch! Over all I spent $150 for two people and was VERY disappointed. The staff was very nice but the food was awful. I will NEVER return there nor will I recommend any of my colleagues to dine at the Oceanaire! Pros: Location, Atmosphere Cons: Food quality, price
