Village Shoes on College Avenue in Berkeley has a great selection of shoes, including brands like Beautifeel, Dansko, Ecco, Naot, Rieker, Sas, Seibel, Stonefly, Stride Rite, Theresia M, Wolky, and Dansko Clogs.
They have great service and will help you find the right shoe for your needs. They recently started carrying the Keen brand of shoes, a very popular walking shoe right now.
They often have sidewalk sales, and the selection of brands that they carry (high end walking shoes) normally cost between $80 and $150.
If you have problem feet (like me - flat feet) that need specially fitted shoes, Village Shoes can take care of you. I believe that they also do custom orthotics.
