Review content:
I would say El Tango is more Cal-Mex than Tex-Mex. The food reminds me more of the Mexican I had in So-Cal - fresh, suprising, varying flavors and textures. Every bite is to be savored. The food is, simply put, outstanding, with plenty of vegetarian options (not just beans and rice). Generous portions and super fresh.
Which is why it takes the kitchen so long to get orders out. Everything is made fresh to order. So if you're dining in, bring along a six pack (it's BYOB, but they'll put it in the fridge for you) and order some appetizers.
Dishes of note: fish tacos (the best I've had in Cleveland), the salsas and the nachos. The daily special is always good, and something you might not think of trying if it was on the regular menu. The vanilla lemonade is a favorite too.
Do yourself a favor and stay for dessert too. A friend and I had a jalepeno apple pie that was delicious!
