The creative combination of Breakdancing, Hip-Hop, Rap, dramatic stagecraft, and authentic Shakespearean text is something not to be missed. It was just so much fun! The performance I attended, at the Roberts Theatre on the Kingswood-Oxford campus in West Hartford ( temporary home to Hartford Stage as it's Church Street location undergoes renovation) was astounding. All members of the Stage's Young Company cast are under 18, full of energy and raw talent. All performances played to full houses and received well deserved standing ovations. Breakdancing Shakespeare is a summer program sponsored by the Greater Hartford Arts Council - but the benefits would be great if this terrifically entertaining show could hit the road for a tour of the state's high schools! Check it out - you won't regret it.
