Review content:
Located in the part Altoona that used to be known as Little Italy, La Jo's is a throwback to neighborhood grocery stores of the past. They are best known for their large selection of homemade sausage, available in many different meats and spices. They also are a great source of specialty Italian meats and cheeses, like prosciutto and sharp provolone. Olive salads and roasted red peppers are also good prepared foods to buy. Their selection of jarred/canned Italian foods is not spectacular but you can find brands that are not located anywhere else in town. They try to carry some other foods but most of it collects dust on the shelves as people only go there for the fresh selections. Julie, the owner/usual cashier is a sweet woman and always makes you feel welcome.
