I went to Desi for the first time not long after they opened, looking for something besides the tired old things on the strip in Addison. I found it in Desi. That night, unfortunately, I only had time to get an order of Blazing Noodles to go. Today, I made it a point to go back there for lunch when I would have more time to spend and sit down to eat. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that they had added a buffet. This allowed me to try several things I had never had before. I love indian food, but it tends to be a bit pricey. Spending all of $7.95 on a great buffet, I had some of the most delicious food I have had in a long time. With the addition of the Tandoori Chicken and Naan being brought to my table fresh and hot, this trip could not have been any better....oh wait...yes it could...I came back 3 hours later and grabbed another plate to go! Now, being born and bred in TX, I am used to seeing beef, chicken, and pork on the menu. Today I had a chance to taste the goat on the buffet. SPECTACULAR!! Also, the dessert...I don't even have words....warm, moist, chewy...YUM! Sadly, these days you really do not get the chance to see the people preparing your food (and in most cases you don't want to). One of my favorite things about Desi is that I can see the food as it is prepared, and I have gotten the chance to talk to the chef himself a few times. Now whether he goes with my suggestions or not, he definitely heard what I have to say, and I truly appreciate that. The chef is a class act, and I would love the chance to sit and pick his brain about the intricacies of indian food, and about food in general. You can tell that these people truly love what they have put together for you, and that they truly stand behind their food. This is not fine dining, but the food may as well be. Bottom line...Desi is DEFINITELY one you should not pass up. Even if you have never had indian food, take the time and check this place out. I promise it is worth the stop. Pros: Prices, tasty food, relaxed atmosphere, approachable staff
