This place is my new favorite weekend hot spot in Bergen County, NJ. I've been going here on and off since Sanzari bought the place, but lately, the weekend bar scene has been excellent. The crowd has been interesting, but not creepy. The food has been spot on, but no expensive. The entertainment has been amazing, but not over-the-top. The bar itself is absolutely beautiful; it's decked out in dark wood moldings and deep, rich colors.
Sanzari's has a great staff. John, the maître d', is super-knowledgable and attentive. He is what you would expect to find at an old world 5 star restaurant. Tony (?) the Bartender is funny, makes a great drink, and has that special something that makes you feel like you belong at his bar. (PS - for you guy's that want to watch a game - there are at least 7 of the biggest flat-screen TV's that I have ever seen beautifully mounted over the bar!)
And lastly, the entertainment is really what makes the whole thing work for me. While most places might have a DJ spinning music (yuck), Sanzari's has live singers that are seriously unbelievable. Liza is a beautiful, tall, blonde bombshell that sounds exactly like Etta James when she sings... why she's not famous - I have no idea. Her husband (I think) Josh is smooth, engaging and sings every song that makes you think to yourself... "I love this song!" He also truly sounds like the artist he is singing. (When we first heard him sing Sinatra, we thought it was playing on the radio...) The two of them really do a fantastic job of setting the mood and interacting with crowd. And here's my tip of the day: If you want to dance, just tell them and they'll make it happen. The last time I was there, the waiters had to move the tables to make room for my girlfriends!
