Review content:
We found these guys at a "Home and Landscaping" show at the Cal Expo in January 2005. They were showing off some bamboo flooring samples and offering free estimates. We ended up hiring them, and the guy (Kevin) who was coming to do the estimate a few weeks later ended up showing up about 4 hrs late for the estimate. This should have been my first clue.
He gave us a great estimate, and when I mentioned that I needed sheetrock work done in the kitchen as well, he said that his guy could do that as well, for a moderate amount more money. We agreed.
The people that did the job (Nick's construction) said they'd be able to do the flooring in one day and sheetrock in another day. It ended up taking a week and a half. They showed up several hours late each time they showed up, there were times they promised they'd be there and never called and never showed up, and didn't answer my phone calls when I tried to call them. The sheetrock work was HORRIBLE.. after they textured it, I could see all the seams and tape marks where the sheetrock went together.. the mudwork they did was sloppy, the floor was uneven, there were nailheads visible in the walls, and they didn't mask anything up when they sprayed the texture, so it ended up on our windows and furniture. By this point, I was so sick of them, I didn't want them to come back. I complained to Kevin, who apparently runs the show at "Quality" carpet and flooring, he came over and looked at the work and agreed that it was poor, he took about $230 off my balance. Later on, I found out that Quality carpet and flooring is not a licensed contractor. In order for them to sub out the work to Nick's construction, they are required to have a contractors license as well. I am in the process of reporting them to the CA Contractors License Board.
