99W is a real old fashioned Drive-In!!!
You line up on Hwy 99 before dusk, especially if the films offered are kids movies.
Once you get in and find your place to park-the evening begins. Adults set up lawn chairs and talk with friends. Children play Frisbee. People are just hanging out until it gets dark.
You set your radio to hear the show and can catch the pre-show fun. My favorite is the birthdays. Tell the management your birthday number and everyone will honk your special number. We were lucky to help someone celebrate his 50th by honking 50 times!
There is an announcement that the Drive In is supported by concession stand purchases. I was more than happy to do my part by buying popcorn and Milk Duds concessions. I experienced deja vu while standing in line smelling the popcorn and seeing the old signs.
This is a double feature. Shows can not begin until it is dark so that can mean very late nights!
Bottom line-there are so few drive-ins anymore, we are lucky to have one near. It is an experience to share with family and friends.
