Review content:
My wife and I took three other couples from Bellefontaine (~75 miles away) down for my birthday this weekend. I am a huge microbrew fan, and there was a nice writeup in the Dispatch on the Mulholland Brewing Company, so I was excited about it. However, dinner did not turn out so well. Ribs are supposedly one of their specialties, but they were out by 7:30. No problem - their Saturday Night Special (posted on the billboard) was smoked prime rib. Nope - out of that too! How 'bout them pork chops? Discontinued. I finally settled for a Reuben that was no better than something from Hardee's. The bright spot for me was the sirloin 3-alarm chili. Not too shabby. The appetizers were OK. Two of my friends reported the salmon was tasty, and my wife liked the asiago chicken, though her pasta was overdone. But hey, it's a brewing company. I'm there for the fresh house-made brews! Unfortunately, I was not a fan of their beers overall. They did have a nice dry stout, and th red ale wasn't too bad. I didn't care for the saison, though I could tell it was a quality beer. At least the samples were cheap ($0.25). The highlight for me was their great, high-quality selection of on-tap beers. There was a great selection of beers that we in the brew community find to be rare treasures since most places do not carry them. As par for the course though, my wife was delighted to see Pyramid Hefeweizen. Oh no - they just ran out of that! All eight of us were disappointed, though most tried to hide it since I dragged them there. I am nonconfrontational, but my friend pulled the manager aside with my complaints and a list of his own. Nothing. The manager did the "Sorry about your luck" routine and meandered back upstairs where we never saw him again. We've spent $100 bucks (and far less) on much better places. No plans to return any time soon. Pros: Nice guest brew selection Cons: Ran out of too many things, house beer not great, food average
