A few weeks ago, a friend, carrying a rather large check with my signature on it, stopped in the Kalama Chevron for gas. When he pulled out his credit card, the check slipped out at the same time and fell on the floor unnoticed. After he left, it was picked up and placed on a cash register by another customer. The duty clerk found the check and called the police right away to turn it in. The officer on duty called me. His haunting words to me were, "In this day and age of identity theft, you were quite fortunate there are still honest people out there. Do you have any idea what could be done with a copy of your orginal signature?" I shudder to think!
A deep gratitude is held for the customer and the duty clerk for their honesty.
The check was a donation to help others, but in fact, your honesty helped me even more than you could posibly imagine.
