Review content:
I went to VCA Fox Chapel Animal Hospital for 2 years with my German Shepherd and was mostly pleased with the service. The vets all seemed nice and competent. However, you never get to know one vet since they have several different people working there. I eventually switched because they refused to allow me to fill a prescription for heartworm medicine anywhere else even though it was inconvenient for me to drive out there. When I pointed out that it this is illegal, they looked at my dog's record and said she had not had a baseline heartworm test. I was upset they hadn't given my dog this apparently necessary test when I went there regularly. I also felt it was irresponsible of them to offer to fill the prescription themselves and then refuse. So...while I like the vets there, I think it's better to go to a vet that is less of an institution.
