My fiancee and I had not been in the car buying mode just 2 weeks ago when our car died on us while taking our daughter back to college. Our second car is already 14 years old, but "knock on wood", still kicking. We need two cars though. So we began the inevitable on-line search for info and comparisons. Edmunds.com brought us to Mellinium Honda's website in Hempstead, NY, where we were able to easily make our own choices to model and price range. Ultimately, we were even able to see the specs as well as color views (in and out) of a model we could afford. Truthfully I really thought that we would never actually see that same car. We drove the several towns distance to Mellinium's showroom and lot, only to find what we thought might be that very car. We were approached by a very friendly, but not pushy sales associate (Derrance) who clearly took the time to hear what we were looking for, as opposed to telling us what he wanted to sell us. He willingly gave us answers to the background features that distinguished different models and price ranges. Not having been in the car buying arena for some time, our questions were probably rather rudimentory. No matter, he answered with thoughtful, considerate, patience; educating us without heavy leanings one way or other. We clarified that we had gone on line to make our initial choices and were somewhat informed about Melliniums website and offerings. He commended our efforts and after a test drive began the paper processing, but only when he had satisfied our questions and determined that we were interested in going forward. Our shared income is modest against our bills, including college expenses. It was clear initially and then again later that he had listened to our financial anxieties -especially since this was an unplanned purchase. At no time did there seem to be an unrealistic push to guide us to an upscale purchase, but instead an effort to guide us within the range of what was modestly affordable to our pocket.
