Review content:
First let us start with The Martini list. It is 6 pages long and has been named New Hampshire's best Martini Menu by New Hampshire Magazine - we concur.
Select from Gin, Vodka, Rum, Bourbon Scotch and a few others. The largest Martini list in the world, and believe me they are wonderful.
Starting off we choose Fried Calamari, Crab Cakes, Coconut Shrimp. If I had to select just one I could not do it. But I will say the crab cakes were more than outstanding.
When they ask about salad dressing, if you like garlic, you must have the house creamy garlic. The bread is baked at the Inn and served warm and crusty.
Selections of, The Trifecta, a presentation of Veal scallopini, boneless chicken breast and shrimp in a sherry reduction sauce. This was served with the best garlic mashed potatoes this garlic lover has ever tasted. The Rack of Lamb was prepared to order using fresh mint kicking up a white mountain NOTCH so to speak., and last but certainly not least the Capri Pasta. Chicken in a sun dried tomato sauce with anchovies (just a touch). This dish had a bit of a spice to it. But not too much.
Save Room for Desert...We ordered four for three people since we could not make up our minds. They were so well worth it. MT. ETNA VOLCANO - a warm dark chocolate cake filled with bittersweet chocolate fudge served with a creme de cassis sauce and whipped cream. TARTE TATIN "CATHERINE STYLE" Peach & Pear Napolian with fresh strawberries - a flaky pastry crust served with vanilla cream. The DREAM TERRINE - a white chocolate mousse with Chambord infused raspberry mousse frozen and served with warm bittersweet chocolate sauce.
Jose Luis Chef/Owner makes everything from scratch including the wonderful "old world style" bread. Catherine Chef/owner is the pastry chef. They have both been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years each and their experience and expertise are quite evident.
If you are visiting the White Mountains you must put this outstanding restaurant on your list of priorities...at the top. Reservations Strongly Recommended.
The busy, small White Mountain town of Littleton makes for pleasant way to spend a day or two. The downtown area features a variety of gift shops, dress shops, a music store, and a wonderful book store. The Beal House Inn, is convenient for skiers - there are five ski resorts within 30 minutes of the Inn.
