This is a wonderful preschool! Kathy, the director, has about 25 years of experience, but she isn't old! No way! She's full of life and fun, and all the kids enjoy her. Fun aside, she knows exactly what she's doing, and everything she has the kids doing has a reason. My son looks forward to going every day. It's a small school with 20 kids per class, and they have two rooms they use in the church. They do celebrate Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. Her reasoning for that is because children will encounter it out in the world. She uses Halloween to teach the kids about the difference between real and pretend. See? A reason for everything. Every day the kids all have jobs--pick up blocks, pick up the dress up area, clean table 1, etc. The kids really enjoy seeing which job they have for the day. They have play time, they talk about the news and weather, the calendar, have a story, have some sort of song or movement and a snack. Kids are dismissed at the end of the day one by one, and they make sure they are going home with who they are supposed to be going home with. They DO call and check if something is out of the ordinary or not what they expected for the day! The pricing is comparable to other similar preschool programs. They have a morning or an afternoon class, though the afternoon class is only on Monday and Wednesday. Mornings can go Monday through Thursday. Your child can go one day a week up to 4. Your child needs to be 3-5 and potty trained, like other programs. Parents are welcome any time to visit or stay the day. Kathy doesn't do this by herself, either. Her staff is also wonderful. They all truly enjoy what they do. Each and every child and their family is important to them, and they really make an effort to get to know them as well as they can.
