Review content:
The nominations for the top 10 salons and spas on Citysearch were in on December 3rd. I just came in after Christmas to check out why this boutique salon in West Seattle was nominated the best of Citysearch in so many categories. Shanti Salon out of 10 salons in the Seattle area came in 7th for blowouts, 6th for Brazilian waxing, 7th in deep tissue massage, 6th in waxing services, 10th for highlights, 5th for hot stone massage, 6th for make-up, 10th for massage, 8th for nails, 8th for pregnancy massage, 6th in foot reflexology, 4th in sports massage, 7th in Swedish massage, 3rd in Thai massage, and 8th in therapeutic massage. So of course I had a massage with Debbie, and a blowout and make-up with Cathrine. I also had some waxing with Heather -she also does sugaring hair removal. I liked the friendliness of the staff, it was a Saturday, so it was bustling, but it was a good time. Most of the staff have tattoos, they are modern looking, and fashionable, yet not snobby, and were really personable. I had a great massage -I see why they scored so high for massage, great waxing done, and I walked out of Shanti after seeing Catherine, like a new woman. It is the people that make the place, and I can see why this smaller neighborhood boutique salon ranked so high amongst the top 10 of Citysearch. I walked out buying way too many products, but everything smelled so good, and it is Aveda, so you know you are getting the best. I even happened to hear Cathleen Carlin, the former owner is returning as a stylist. I have known her and her incredible styling skills for years. Overall a great salon/ spa experience, I can see why this salon is so popular ...they really need to complete that expansion I keep hearing about! Pros: Likeable and Professional yet Personable Staff, Parking Cons: They need the expansion -they are overflowing
