Our dog recently passed away and we went to Pet Orphans to adopt another dog. Staff was not very pleasant. They turned us away because we told them that one of our dogs prefers to stay outside versus in our home. They also made the presumption to know that introducing a new dog into our home would be too stressful an event for all animals involved. The tone of the staff was not very inviting. My family and I were addressed as if we were barbarians for allowing one of our dogs to spend most of his time outside. Odd thing was that we had adopted from them before. While I am sure their hearts are in right place, I wonder how many worthy families are turned away for immaterial reasons.
Basically, if you don't feed your dog out of a tiara crystal bowl and have him sleep in a silken bed, they will deny you and subtly imply you are not able to provide a loving home to an animal. I am sure that they are a "no kill" facility. Avoid pet orphans, adopt a dog from the pound, and really rescue a dog or cat...
