My daughter went to David's Bridal to get her dress (she had previously picked it out online). She went well in advance of the wedding date and picked out the dress, the undergarments and the bridesmaids dresses. She arrived at her appointment time but no one was available to help her for about 30 minutes. When she later went back to finalize, the saleswoman that helped her the first time had not written anything down and everything had to be refitted. When she went for her fitting, the dress was too small (she had gained some weight). They offered nothing to alter the dress but did pin it to bustle it. The next day she consulted a bariatric physician in order to get her weight down before the wedding. I phoned David's and spoke with DeeDee. I told her not do anything to the dress because if my daughter lost weight, the dress would fall and it would lower the hem. I told her to write down my instructions and pin it to the dress. They should not do anything to it until they heard from me and if I had to pay a "rush" fee I would do so. The very next day DeeDee called me back left a message. She called me my daughter's name and told me that she had (my name) dress and stated that if we were going to get the alteration ready in time we really had to get going to meet the deadline (three weeks away). Two weeks later we went to try the dress on again to see if it was going to fit (which it did) but they had finished the bustle anyway without regard to my instructions and when I complained that no one had heeded my instructions, they really didn't care. If my daugher had not wanted that dress so badly I would have gone somewhere else. Lastly, I had just spent $1000 in their store and asked for a swatch to match the apple color train on the dress. They actually charged me $1.07 for the swatch as if I had come in off the street to buy it...pretty poor customer service all around.
