Review content:
If you love flowers, this was a great way to spend a summer afternoon. Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion was a pleasant surprise. You can do a self guided tour at your leisure or ride the tram and hear from the staff about the gardens and mansion. We learned the history of the Thompson family and their philanthropy in the community, Mrs. Thompson's dreams and passions as she created each garden individually and travled the world to find the expertise to make the gardens perfect, beautiful sculptures and grounds. I felt like I wanted to go back in time, dress in 19th century costume and sit on the veranda sipping my tea and overlooking the beautiful Italian Garden. There's many new events and activities at Sonnenberg as well, from Friday night moonlight strolls, concerts and art shows. Sonnenberg is a must see in the Finger Lakes. The Finger lakes Wine Center is also located on the grounds and you can taste (and buy) wines from over 40 different Finger Lakes Wineries in one stop. We had a wonderful afternoon and many memoriesand pictures to take home.
